Cardinal Blase Cupich Honored
City Council celebrated the elevation of His Eminence Blase Cupich to
Cardinal of the Archdiocese of Chicago.
Cardinal Cupich became archbishop of the Archdiocese of Chicago in 2014 and was elevated to cardinal last November in a ceremony in Rome.

African-American History Month Lecture
Come
to the Lincoln Park Branch Library, 1150 W Fullerton Ave, on
Saturday, February 4th from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM for a
lecture on Fugitive Slaves, Race, and the Mexican-American War with Dr. Cranston Ramirez-Knight, Ph.D.
Our present-day controversies surrounding immigration share historical patterns in the African-American and Latino communities. Dr. Cranston Ramirez-Knight will the period leading up to the Mexican-American War through the lens of Mexican sovereignty, American slavery and racial ideology.

Presenting Jorge Albarran with resolution celebrating 35 years of Las Fuentes

35 Years of Good Eating
It was a pleasure to join Jorge Albarran, owner of Las Fuentes at 2558 N Halsted Street, along with his friends and family in celebrating 35 years of Las Fuentes in our neighborhood.
City Council honored Jorge with a resolution recognizing this milestone and sending best wishes for Las Fuentes to continue to grow and contribute to the unique character of Lincoln Park.

Free Chicago Arts + Events for February
Enjoy
free programs, events and activities in the Ward and throughout Chicago at libraries, museums, cultural centers and parks during February.
At the Field Museum, 1400 S. Lake Shore Drive, Illinois resident receive free basic admission this month. Special exhibit prices still apply.
Come out to the Art Institute, 111 S. Michigan Avenue for free winter weekdays all day long through February 16th.
On
Thursday, February 2nd at 10:30 AM and Noon the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington St, Preston Bradley Hall offers a free performance from the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra.
And join the Chicago History Museum, 1601 N. Clark Street, in celebrating President's Day and the closing of the "Lincoln's Undying Words" exhibit on
Monday, February 20th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Enjoy live music, family crafts, and storytelling for kids.
