Heilicher General Studies Director Maia Poling read to some of our second grade students last week.
Dear Parents,

As Heilicher continues to nurture and challenge your children, our staff strives to bring the latest and best educational tools to the program. In that regard, you will hear a lot over the coming weeks and months about advancements and professional development in classroom instruction from science to math to Hebrew and beyond.

This week a number of our administrative team members attended the annual conference for Prizmah, which is the newly minted Jewish Day School organization for the U.S. and Canada. In Chicago, our team met with hundreds of Jewish school peers and learned about and contributed to the latest dialogue on best practices in development, admissions, and curricular design and implementation. Thank you to the Heilicher Foundation for helping us get the most out of this conference!

Lastly, thank you to the many parents, grandparents and community volunteers who helped us redesign and reinvigorate the Sheila and Stephen Lieberman, Children and Grandchildren Library. We are particularly grateful to the Posada-Lerner family for their contributions of time and funds; to Diane Greenberger for her spearheading of this project; and to Juliana Sellers, Michelle Gendlin, Ronit Bergel, Sara Zuk, and numerous others who devoted their time and talents to this endeavor. The doors will be opening in stages over the coming weeks and, after mid-winter break, I invite you to swing by and take a look. The space is gorgeous and truly will serve our students and facu lty well.

I hope to see many of you tomorrow at our celebration of Helen Siegel, beginning at 2:15 p.m. in the Manny Fingerhut Auditorium.

B'Shalom,
Yoni

Students have been preparing for months, learning essential concepts during science, improving research skills during language arts, and building arguments during social studies.

Although the students were all assigned to the positions they must defend, they've done a tremendous job working together to develop evidence-based arguments and defenses to likely counter-arguments. We hope to see you there!
