Fresh Cut Flowers Are Just In Time For Valentine's Day

Reina Apraez, Produce Lead, is very excited about receiving the first shipment of fresh cut flowers from The Queens Flowers. Established in 1980, The Queens Flowers is one of the leading growers, importers and distributors of fresh cut flowers in North America. They produce more than 850 million stems per year and are focused on producing the best quality product consistently and are committed to doing so with social and ecological responsibility.

Each one of The Queens Flowers 33 farms has been certified by two of the leading social and environmental certifying organizations: Florverde and Rainforest Alliance.

They employ over 14,000 good-hearted and hard-working Colombians that have found a fair and respectful working environment that promotes better living standards which include: educational programs, competitive remuneration, health benefits and a sense of community.

Reina likes the fact that The Queens Flowers does the things noted in the last paragraph and also that they are very focused on having a positive impact on the natural resources in the locations where they operate. They recycle materials used in production, compost, recycle wood, have water treatment plants, recycle rain water and design each of their farm's landscaping with native plants to ensure the conservation of existing ecosystems and protect endangered animal species. All this is why Reina feels The Queens Flowers will be a great vendor partner for the Co-op in the future.
