Message from the Principal
Kathy Foster
Hart Family and Friends,
Our students have rallied around the Student Council's Queen of Hart fundraiser. We are making great gains towards our goal of raising enough money to build a well for those in need of clean water. You never know how something new will be received, but it is evident from the amount of hearts that have been purchased, this fundraiser has been a big hit! A sweet kindergarten friend took this to heart, literally. He loves his teacher so much that he went home and cut out his own hearts to share with her the next day. Thank you for your support, for making our teachers feel special, and for helping those in need of clean water.
We Need Your Help! As you drive your child to school in the morning or pick him/her up in the afternoon, please remember:
*
Drive slowing in the parking lot.
* Carpool Lanes are No Cell Phone Zones
* Be courteous to other drivers.
*
Pedestrians have the right of way in the crosswalk (There are three crosswalks on
south side)
* Pull all the way up to the front of the drop off or pick up lane.
* There are more cars than teachers on duty, so encourage your child to exit the car
when you come to a stop.
* Please take one last look before you begin to move forward in the carpool line.
Tomorrow morning is Reading with the Leopards. Our students will be greeted by LHS Soccer, Golf, Baseball and Track Teams for Reading with the Leopards.
Happy at Hart,
Kathy Foster

Message from the Nurse
NEW! ILLNESS
Currently, we are seeing a few viruses (kiddos are testing negative for flu and strep) that seem to be gastrointestinal focused. Symptoms most common with these viruses are fever, stomach ache, sore throat, headache, and vomiting. Not all are experiencing all of these symptoms. We are still seeing Flu A and strep, but it seems to have decreased this week. Some are not experiencing typical symptoms of strep throat such as fever and sore throat (some are only complaining of a headache and/or stomach ache). Symptoms of the flu may include (but may not be experienced by all) are: fever, chills, fatigue, nausea/vomiting, cough, diarrhea, headache, body aches, sore throat. It seems that the most common symptoms with these illnesses are fever, sinus congestion, headache, stomach ache, and eye pressure.
We are also seeing allergy related symptoms (due to mountain cedar) and a virus which includes mostly headache, stomach ache, fever (some are not having fever or are experiencing only low grade fever) with this virus. Please remember, if your little ones have had diarrhea, fever greater than 100 (without medications), or vomiting they must be out of school for a full 24 hours so that we can help protect others.
The most effective way to protect ourselves for coming in contact with bacteria and viruses are:
- Frequent hand washing with soap and water, or use alcohol-based hand rubs containing at least 60 percent alcohol, when soap and water aren't available.
- Avoid direct contact with body fluids of people who are obviously sick
- Be kind and cautious with cough and sneezing--cover mouth and nose and use tissues
- Fever of 100 degrees or higher indicate student should not come to school until 24 hours fever free (without medicine) and additional concerns of illness are best discussed with your Physician
- Do NOT share food, drinks, utensils with others
- Flu shots are available in the community
- Be proactive, contain illness by staying home if you are sick, and prevent the spread of germs
Thank you for your cooperation!
