NACMS' NEWSLETTER - February 2017

Winner of the Inaugural NACMS' Writing Contest

Congratulations to Anthony Garascia, South Bend, IN. He was chosen as the winner of the Inaugural NACMS' Writing Contest.

Writing Prompt: Imagine Adèle, Chaminade, and Marie Thérèse making New Year's Resolutions for 2017. What would one of those resolutions be?

Anthony's response:

"After prayer in the Madeleine our founders, sitting around the table, toasting with a good Bordeaux, ask everyone to think about their hopes for the new year and the resolutions they want to make

Chaminade: In the new year I want to remind the world that in Mary, diversity and unity can exist together in community; where the miracle of Cana speaks to abundance and overflowing resources for everyone.

Adèle: In the new year I want to continue to work against human trafficking and for justice for all women who are deprived and oppressed.

Marie Thérèse: In the new year work I want to continue my work for justice for those marginalized, globally and locally.

All three together as one Marianist Family: In the new year let's remind everyone of the central message of Pope Francis that the earth is our sister and that care for creation is integrally connected to our work for justice."

As promised Anthony received a copy of  Growing in the Virtues of Jesus by Quentin Hakenewerth, SM.

Thank you to everyone who sent in their thoughtful and inspiring submissions. We were honored to read them all.

Look for our next Writing Contest coming this spring!
