February 9, 2017

In 2018, students have the opportunity to travel to  Rome, Assisi and Florence as part of an educational trip.

As our world becomes increasingly interconnected, it is encouraged that students become more culturally  aware and explore new ideas. Students who go on this trip will grow their social skills, connect to their studies outside of the classroom and set themselves apart when applying to  college and their future careers.

Additional details about the educational trip can be found here Informational meetings about this trip will be held on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 5 p.m. and Monday, Feb. 13 at 6:30 p.m. Both meetings will be held in the library.  Please email me to RSVP you and your child's spot at one of these meetings.

MINISTRY & SERVICE

From the Chaplain's Office
This week we recall two important dates for the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.  Thursday, Feb. 9 , is the anniversary of the death of Sr. Francoise Blin, dear friend of St. Julie and co-foundress of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.  Then  Sunday, February 12 , is the anniversary of the martyrdom of Sr. Dorothy Stang in Brazil. While neither have been officially recognized as Saints by the Church, in faith we can call upon their intercession for our CJ community and for ourselves.

For the fourth year in a row, we are excited to host a Cost of Poverty Experience (C.O.P.E) role-playing simulation on Tuesday, Mar. 7 for our junior class. Every junior will take on the role of real youth in poverty who must deal with the many challenges that exist among families living in poverty. Adult volunteers are needed for two sessions from 8:15 - 11:15 a.m. and 12:00 - 2:50 p.m. Adult volunteers will manage a resource table or help facilitate a small group of juniors as they process this experience.  This event is sponsored by Think Tank. If you would like to volunteer for one or both sessions, please contact Kelli Kinnear. The same day, juniors will also visit local college campuses. Contact AJ Grimm if you are interested in chaperoning this trip.
