Yesterday we had the pleasure of tasting great Tuscan wines from the acclaimed producer, Val Di Suga. We tasted Brunello, single vineyard Brunello and we tasted their 2013 Rosso Di Montalcino. The subject of today's email is the Rosso or possibly better explained, finding connoisseur level wines at a value price . This Rosso is made from 100 percent Sangievetto Grosso, the Brunello clone. The Val Di Suga Rosso spends 15 months in neutral oak and this is not a negotiant, the fruit is all estate grown. Val di Suga Brunellos rate in the above 90 category vintage after vintage, and reviewer after reviewer. The Rosso is not submitted for review, too much pretension for a modest wine.
About the wine; The 2013 Val di Suga Rosso di Montalcino exhibits a nose of cherry, rose petals and cinnamon . The front palate is
rustic cherry, almost sweet, but then becomes bone dry at the mid palate and finishes with vivacious wild berry length. Various spices including cinnamon are revealed in the finish, accented with a bit of eucalyptus and excellent acidity.
-This Rosso will be incredible with smoked chicken, ribs and sausages.
There were only 36 bottles currently available , we took them all to offer at $32.50 per; 5% off 6, 10% off 12
( excellent pricing compared nationally ) .
All of the very best,
Rex And Michele
