In January 2016, we took "Invasion" and "Call From the Afterlife" to New York and APAP including the Booking Dance Festival at Jazz At Lincoln Center. Following quickly was the Awakenings and Beginnings Festival for "Invasions", our exciting sci-fi work about the humanity connection that is part of us. We also performed the work at the So CA Invitational- Golden West College in Orange County in February, ending the run of these performances at the HHII Festival in Santa Barbara at Centerstage where choreographer Louise Reichlin was a finalist for the Apogee Award for that piece in the "Excellence in a Dance Work by a Creator".

We have always had a strong focus on educational residencies, and in 2016 we returned to the La Puente Hacienda Heights USD and to several districts in the Santa Barbara and Lompoc districts. We were thrilled to become part of the once again formed LAUSD Arts Community Network, which we will be a part of again in 2017. With our school residencies, we served more than 17,000 children last year.

"When I founded our company in 1979, I chose Los Angeles Choreographers and Dancers as our non-profit (95-3509028) name not only to support my own work, but also my partner and late 

husband Alfred Desio's work. I also planned on presenting other choreographers and companies -

and we have done this big time. (24 through our early New Works Dance Festivals, 18 through my  

tenure at the Dance At Brand Series, 12-22 each year with the free performances at the San Pedro ♥ Festival of the Arts (previously the TriArt Festival), now celebrating 10 years, and more than 570 companies on the free online So. CA Dance Directory. We create vital relevant new work each year, and maintain a resident company of dancers who get rehearsal and performance honoraria as well as teaching work at a number of our teaching residencies. We self produce as well as guest at theatres and festivals each year. And we have done this consistently since 1979.

 

For all of these activities, still current, we probably bring something extra to your lives, whether it is

inspiration through one of our professional or school performances, production and marketing support, or through your participation in one of our dance classes- either personally or at your venue or school.
