Trinity Tidbits--Week of Epiphany 6

TOTH logo
You may have seen the phrase 'The School for Conversion' pop up recently.  This past Tuesday, 6 intrepid souls gathered together for a new opportunity to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ.
The School for Conversion is based on a model of discipleship created by the Restoration Project, an Episcopal discipleship initiative from California.  We gathered in prayer, had opportunities for vulnerable sharing, and will soon begin a theological study called 'Transforming Questions.'
There are 4 spots left for the School for Conversion.  If you are interested in this gathering, get in touch with me.

     Peace,
     Chris
GOOD BOOKS WILL BE HERE SUNDAY!
Good Books will bring many books by your favorite authors, Episcopal and Christian publications, as well as good historical fiction and mysteries to the hill this Sunday. If you are looking for good books to read for book groups, there will be plenty for you to browse and purchase.
Remember Good Books will be at TOTH, this Sunday, Feb. 12th. If you want a Bible or Prayerbook engraved, or combination BCP/Hymnal, call today and give her your order and correct spelling of the name. 505-955-8550.
Report on Souper Bowl Offering
I don't know about you, but my favorite team, God's team, was a winner on Sunday!  Thanks to the generous TOTH members for surpassing our goal of $400 by more than 50%.  The total amount in the soup pot was $625!!   We also received 149 food and other items.  All will go to LA Cares. We were one of nearly 2,700 groups who have reported so far, giving over $5 million.  I'm sure the total will grow as more report.  Last year's national total was $10 million!
Shopping with Amazon Smile Nets Donation to TOTH
The last quarter of 2016, people using SmileAmazon.com and indicating TOTH with their purchase, netted $21.77 for the church. You can set this up for your own purchases from Amazon by going to SmileAmazon.com and setting up your account so all Amazon purchases you make through that portal will credit a percentage to TOTH. You must shop through the portal for it to work, however. Thanks for helping raise money for your church.
TOTH Receives Smith's Community Rewards
Twenty-one TOTH households, who have designated credit from their Smith's Rewards card to go to their church, and who shopped at Smith's between 10-1-2016 and 12-30-2016 (Cycle 3, Qtr 4) have contributed to TOTH's $131.25 total donation for the quarter.  You can designate TOTH on your Smith's Fresh Rewards card, too. Just ask us in the office!
2017 Woman2Woman Mini-Conference March 18 in Los Alamos
The Los Alamos Church of Christ will host their fifth Woman2Woman mini-conference on Saturday, March 18, 2017, part of their "Fruit of the Spirit" series. They cordially invite the women of TOTH, other churches and friends to attend. The hope is to bring together the women of Los Alamos for mutual edification and support in living for Christ. The theme this year is Ripples of Kindness, with a focus on how to practice Godly kindness. "The one who despises his neighbor sins, but whoever shows kindness to the poor will be happy." (Proverbs 14:21). The mini-conference will include Bible study, discussion, worship, Christian fellowship, spiritual uplifting and a complimentary brunch. For more information, call 695-5890.

Wild Lent: A Retreat for Women and Men, March 24-26
All women & men of the Diocese are invited to a time for quiet
reflection, fellowship, and sharing time in the beauty of the Big Bend area of our Diocese.
Bishop Michael Vono, the Rev. Paul Moore, and others will share reflections on Matthew 4 during Wild Lent on March 24-26, 2017 in Alpine, TX. This event is an invitation to look at the socio- and eco-logical issues of our ministries in light of Jesus' time in the wilderness, and consider how we can make a difference where we are.
There is an optional Big Bend National Park tour on Friday morning. We'll carpool through part of the Big Bend National Park (entry fees apply) for a time of quiet reflection in landscape very similar to the Judean wilderness. This will offer an inspirational introduction to the weekend's talks. Afterward, we will join the retreat leadership and members of local communities for sharing worship and conversations about how we can find common ground and work together for the good of all.
The main part of the retreat begins March 24 at St. James' Church in Alpine with dinner at 6PM. The first presentation will follow. The retreat concludes after Sunday services on March 26. Retreat registration is $25, which covers lunch and dinner on Friday and Saturday. Registration info is available on the Women's Ministry website ( www.VarietiesOfGifts.blogspot.com) or you can register online at www.WildLent.eventsbot.com. This retreat is sponsored by the Women of the Diocese and the Brotherhood of St. Andrew. A brochure is downloadable from the Women's Ministry website or at:  https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4P9SzRkJXCpY0k1REN5OFJjS28/view
Blocks of rooms have been reserved for March 23-26 at the Hampton Inn and at the historic Holland Hotel in Alpine, TX with special rates good through mid-February 2017. You are advised to reserve your room early! (Mention Diocesan Lent Retreat or Cindy Davis when making reservations.)
Looking forward to seeing women and men of all ages and from all corners of the diocese at this event. We know it's a long drive for some of us, but it is worth it in the inspiration you will gain from the beauty and speakers.  Contact Cindy Davis ( [email protected]) if you have questions.
