Purchase your Auction tickets before the price goes up
February 28!

Thanks for the great Auction donations - we'll accept more until Wednesday, March 1

Wow! We have some great donations for the upcoming auction! Thank you to all of you who have already turned in your THREE donations. Although Monday, February 27 was the original deadline for donations, we could still use more items so feel free to take a few more days to turn in your donations. Because each item needs to be catalogued, priced, and prepared for display, we really must have all auction items turned in to the school office NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY, MARCH 1. Please help us stay on schedule by turning in your donations ASAP.

Students are selling raffle tickets for some cool prizes - AND there's a prize for the student who sells the most!

Before the February break, each student received ten raffle tickets to sell for the auction. Each $5 ticket gives the ticket holder a chance to win one of three fabulous prizes - a crisp $100 bill, a $75 Ticketmaster gift card, or a cruise on the Double Dolphin for two adults and two children! Students are expected to sell their allotted tickets soon.

Students who wish to sell more than the allotted ten tickets may get additional tickets from the office. ALL raffle ticket stubs, money, AND unsold tickets are due in to the school office no later than Thursday, March 16. The three lucky winners will be announced at the auction on Sunday, March 19. Winners need not be present. The student who sells the most raffle tickets AND turns in the ticket stubs and money by the March 16 deadline will win a $50 gift card to a store or restaurant!
Wednesday, March 1st will also be the last day to turn in Auction Program Ads

Anacapa's Auction Program is a great place to advertise a business or service. If you - or anyone you know - is interested in having an ad in our program, please let us know.  Camera-ready artwork and payments are due in the school office by Wednesday, March 1.

Here are the rates:
  • Business Card (horizontal or vertical)        $35
  • Half Page (4 1/2 x 3 1/2)                              $55
  • Full Page (4 1/2 x 7 1/2)                               $75

The next time you're out and about in town, ask if the people you normally do business with would like to run an ad in our program.  Or if you have a business yourself, consider promoting it with our auction guests - you can't beat the price AND the targeted audience!  Some ideas for inspiration:

  • A thank-you to someone special
  • A "message" to your son or daughter or to a teacher(s)
  • A congratulatory note to the class of 2017
Be on the lookout for mid-quarter notices early this month

We're nearing the halfway point of the third quarter. Teachers will be sending home Improvement Needed notices for students who need to step up their class performance. Teachers may also choose to send Commendation notices for students who are doing particularly well.

Daylight Savings Time Begins

DON'T FORGET TO SPRING FORWARD! Be sure to set your clock forward one hour before you go to bed Saturday night, March 11 because Daylight Saving Time begins that night.
Re-Enrollment forms are due Tuesday, March 7th

Please turn in your re-enrollment forms by March 7, 2017 in order to secure your student's place for next year. At this time of the year we are receiving new applications and the school needs to have an accurate snapshot of each grade that can only come from knowing re-enrollment. Thank you for getting your forms in by this deadline.
Literary Society Luncheon

On March 10, 2017 the AP Literature students have been invited to attend a Santa Barbara Literary Society luncheon.  As part of this experience, the students will have the honor to attend a private meeting with Chris Cleave, author of the historical fiction novel Everyone Brave is Forgiven .  The novel is set in London during WWII and is loosely based on Mr. Cleave’s grandparents’ relationship.  To prepare for the luncheon, the students will be reading the novel and preparing questions for Mr. Cleave regarding his story, the craft of writing, and his journey to becoming an author.  Following the private session, the students will join the Literary Society for lunch and Mr. Cleave will address the group as a whole.  We are excited for this wonderful opportunity to meet with an author and will report back in March with a follow-up on the meeting and luncheon!  Thank you to the Literary Society for providing this unique experience!
Have fun, meet other parents, help transform the campus for ANACAPA IN AN OCTOPUS'S GARDEN!

Even if you didn't sign up to be on the auction Decorations or Set-Up Committees, you are MORE THAN WELCOME to join in the fun on Saturday, March 18 and/or Sunday morning, March 19. We guarantee there will be plenty to do and plenty of fun - and the more willing hands we have, the more fun it will be! You are welcome to bring your son or daughter because we always have jobs for student workers, too. So come lend a hand and get to know other Anacapa parents as we set the stage for Sunday's fabulous party - Anacapa in an Octopus's Garden.
March Special: An Off-Campus Day for Students and Teachers

It's time for our March Special, a long-time tradition of taking a day off from classes and doing something together. Since the auction was brought to campus, we have been scheduling the March Special to coincide with the removal of the big tent and campus clean-up the day after the auction. This year's March Special activity has yet to be determined. We will send a separate email with more details soon!

Please don't forget the Annual Fund

As with all independent schools, supporting the Annual Fund is vital to the fiscal health of the school. If you have not yet made your tax deductible gift to the school, please do so soon!

We will have an early student dismissal at 12:25 pm on the last day of the third quarter, Friday, March 25. Work/Study students will complete their chores from 12:30 to 1:00 pm. Then it's spring break!
Spring Break: March 26-April 2

School will be closed for spring break from Saturday, March 26 through Sunday, April 2. Have a safe and fun break! We look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday morning, April 3 when classes resume.
