Whack and Roll Invitational Registration
The Whack and Roll Croquet tournament engages over 25 local nonprofits in a day of competition for over $10,000 in prize money. Each organization will field two teams of two players each.
New in 2017: Players who are new to croquet or have never qualified for afternoon play in the past may choose to compete in the Novice division. If your players are not sure if they qualify for the Novice division based on past results, please contact Steve Diehl. Placement in the Novice division is at the discretion of the tournament organizers and conditional on sufficient interest in Novice play as this is a new addition. Novice prizes will be $1000 for first place and $500 for second.
The Returning Winner Rule is in place to keep the winner's circle accessible to more teams. It stipulates that any player who placed (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) in any of the previous two years must play with a different partner. That partner must also not be covered by the RWR. In addition to the two teams given with registration, up to three teams (six players) may register as independents and play for your organization. They will register directly with the Heritage Center. The team fee is $150 and the registration deadline is May 14. If you know of people who intend to play for you, please encourage them to sign up thorugh our website or contact us directly, as we will not take registrations on the day of the event.
If you select "check" under payment, please notify us who the check will be coming from. (some organizations have a donor pay us directly) Thank you!
Key Dates:
March 1: Complete registration form online; the link is provided in your registration email.
Your organization will be listed on the WHACK & ROLL pages of our website and in social media posts. You do not need to have your players and teams set to register. However, if you do, please fill out that information in the online form.
Upon registration send us your logo if it has changed. Email a color jpeg of your logo with 300 or better resolution to diehls@mhep.org.
March 31: Pay early registration fee
$1000 non-refundable fee submitted by you or your sponsor to the Mennonite Heritage Center, 565 Yoder Rd., Harleysville, PA 19438-1020.
After March 31, the fee is $1100.
May 1: Submit team and player names. If your players are new to Whack and Roll, send contact info of individual players (address, email, and best contact phone number) as soon as you have a player confirmed. We want to be able to send invitations to clinics and other pertinent information to players as early as possible. Team names are very important as all teams are listed by team name on scoring cards at the invitational and in the computer. Team names not received by May 1will be assigned by tournament directors.
Though we will be in touch with your players about clinics and updates, it is your responsibility to confirm with them that they will play on your behalf. Many players have played for different teams in the past and may not remember they have played for you.
May 1: Submit name of the organization’s representative who will accept the $500 check from our Community Sponsor, Bergey’s Inc. We will present you with a check at the Saturday, June 3, Lunch Bash. Please let the MHC office know the name of the person from your organization who will be accepting this check.
June 3: Compete and enjoy the lunch bash with your players and 4 other guests! Additional Lunch Bash tickets can be purchased at registration.
