by Sister Helen Jean Novy, H.M., VP of Mission
February with feasts of Mary: the Purification commemorating her presenting of Jesus in the Temple; February 11, commemorating devotion to Our Lady of Lourdes, France, and in the secular sphere Valentine exchanges; weather-wise, often a cold, grey month so let us pray:
Heart of Christ,
You model to us
openness to the wonders of the world,
a buoyant hope in the midst of gloom.
You model for us inclusive love
that gentles its way into other hearts
letting them know in their deepest selves
that they are so unimaginably lovable to You.
Form my heart in likeness to Yours.
make my heart meek and humble.
then I can give Your love to another,
and bring Your accepting glance to all.
Amen.
You are also invited to see the February
Reflection by Sister Helen Jean.

Message from the President:
In my 18 years' experience as an educator and my many years as a resident of Northeast Ohio, I have noticed something interesting about February. It can feel like the longest month of the year, despite the number of actual days listed on the calendar. Part of it is no doubt the weather. It's cold, windy, wet and dark. Some of it is probably the post-Christmas blues. We miss the sense of joy and wonder that comes with the birth of our Lord. Whatever the case, February can seem like a really long month.

Sister Helen Jean Novy, H.M., VP of Mission, will receive the 2017 Lead. Learn. Proclaim. Award from the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) for dedication and commitment to excellence.
Sr. Helen Jean was chosen from more than 150,000 teachers and administrators, as well as diocesan leaders and organizations dedicated to the nation's Catholic schools. Sr. Helen Jean will be recognized during the annual NCEA 2017 Convention & Expo that will take place April 18 - 20 in St. Louis, MO. The annual award honors those whose ministry is Catholic school education and who have demonstrated a strong Catholic educational philosophy as well as exceptional ability, dedication and results.
