President's Comments
I hope that everyone had a great Valentine's Day and/or has been enjoying the warmer than usual weather. Let me add to that wishes that you have avoided the flu, congestion and the myriad of other maladies that are making the rounds.
The Appomattox Cheerz schedule is coming together and there will be some changes this year. Stay tuned and we will announce them once everything is final. We are looking to make the events even more family oriented than before and are excited about the possibilities.
The project to place signage promoting downtown on the 460 Bypass is coming together. We are lacking just a little funding still and then we can begin the process of obtaining the governmental approvals and giving the go ahead to the fabrication and installation. A special thank you to the Appomattox Christian Academy, Century 21, Jamerson Building Supply and TPS Displays for their participation in the project.
The Chamber has initiated efforts to sponsor a business seminar during the month of April. Our preliminary plan is to offer direction in marketing oriented subjects. If you have a suggestion on a topic that you would like us to cover in addition to or instead of marketing, please communicate with me.

Over eighteen months from 2013 to 2014, the first Blueprint process engaged business and community leaders from around the Commonwealth to determine top priorities for strengthening Virginia's economic competitiveness. As Virginians prepare to elect a new Governor in 2017, the time is right to update Blueprint Virginia, and establish ambitious policy goals for growth. Virginia's regional leaders and industry experts will convene to analyze state and regional economies and identify specific economic drivers.

The goal of the online calendar is to prevent competing events so that every event is a success. So please submit your event information to the Chamber at least 2 weeks in advance of the event so it can be uploaded to the calendar.
