On the Ground Report - December 2016

Thank You   Visiting Videographers

Special thanks to many donors who heard our plea to contribute towards our Education Fund. We had a record Giving Tuesday and with your generosity, 85 children were sponsored for their annual fee of $135.

A special shout out to Jim Hulburd of California, who generously sponsored 10 children.

A grateful thank you to the Vera R Campbell Foundation for once again sponsoring the food for our Health and Wellness program with a donation of $25,000. Hungry children can not learn!

Partnership

We signed an agreement with Angkor University in Siem Reap. We are working with their recent midwife and nursing graduates to provide health care in our two schools and communities. They will make twice weekly visits to our schools and check on the children.

Ordinary people can do
extraordinary things
that make a difference
in the world,
one child at a time.

In December we were lucky to have two teams of professional videographers visiting our operations. The Forgotten International in partnership with BNP Paribas Bank, sponsored a comprehensive video of CCDO work. Videographer George Rosenfeld spent a busy week, interviewing the staff and filming the kids and water wells. We are grateful to TFI and BNP Paribas for the grant of $12,000 to continue our work on the ground.

The Kevlin Group from Taiwan, sponsored a well as part of their humanitarian project Superace. They filmed the building of a well from start to finish and will share it with the fans of the founder, the extraordinary ultra marathon runner, Kevin Lin.

We are looking forward to both professional results as they will give us much needed promotional materials that can bring a new level of recognition.

Organizational Restructuring
It has been nearly 10 years since our first water well has been built. Through the years we took on many new projects and ideas and hired more and more local people. Under the leadership of our western Executive Director, Luisa Gentile, we have spent months scouring the ranks of Cambodian professionals and have restructured our team on the ground.

We have decided it is time to invest in capacity of well educated staff. We replaced most of our coordinating staff and hired new executive support staff that is professional with good level of English and computer skills. We need people who can make assessments and write excellent reports for our use, as well as for our partners and generous donors. We are training the new staff to be more proactive and self sufficient.
