Welcome United Girls' Choir!
We are delighted to welcome the United Girls Choir this Sunday during our 10 am Worship Service. United Girls' Choir is Connecticut's fastest-growing youth choir and is the largest division of the United Choir School. Founded in 2000, UGC currently includes 26 ensembles and has chapters based in
11 locations throughout the state. The choir is on tour in Massachusetts and New York.
The choir is our 50/50 collection for the month of February. UGC is part of the United Choir School which offers
14 levels of instruction, from beginner to advanced. Our curriculum focuses on the cultivation of leadership skills, confidence, and musical literacy and emphasizes the importance of sisterhood, team-work, integrity, and professionalism. Staff members and choristers work together as colleagues with the common goal of creating an atmosphere that is both challenging and fun. UCS's mission is to empower our choristers to realize their full potential as musicians, leaders, and human beings.

Standing On The Side of Love Task Force Forming - February 19, 11:45 am
With the host of campaigns and projects coming from various organizations within our UU movement and from communities around the country, and with the considerable energy that has been generated by the Women's Marchs last month and the Rally last week here in Worcester, it is becoming increasingly important for UUCW to strategize about how best to promote and participate this ongoing work. Therefore, we are forming a Standing on the Side of Love Task Force to facilitate a strategy of communal engagement for UUCW in local, regional, national and international campaigns that continue or are forthcoming. Please join us for a discussion of this new venture and what campaigns/issues are most important to address initially, following church next Sunday, February 19 at 11:45 am in Classroom 2.

PRACTICE DEMOCRACY!!!!!!!
Sign Up To Be Part of a Sunday Morning Worship Team
We belong to a faith that has long held up the democratic process as a central tenet of its beliefs. It allowed women, and lay women at that, to preach from the altar when it was taboo in most religious institutions of those times. Rev. Olympia Brown, a Universalist, was one of the first ordained women ministers in this country (1863). Lay men were also often barred from speaking in church in most religious denominations.
You might ask, what does this have to do with us? Plenty!! Despite weekly appeals to have congregants sign up to assist Aaron and Beau on Sunday mornings, few people do. I realize that not everyone is comfortable reading in front of a large group, but this might be a good time to defy your stage fright! Eleanor Roosevelt said, "You must do the thing that you fear you cannot do." Or you could take on the role of the Worship Assistant who handles the preparation of the altar and electronics for the service. Or have you or you and your family light the chalice. There are many ways to serve.
So we need YOU (yes YOU!!) to sign up to be a reader or an assistant so that there are many faces speaking to us on Sunday morning. It is a great way for newer congregants to get people to know their names. And it ensures that we continue to practice religious democracy in action!
HERE is the link to sign up
. Find it, click on it and have yours be another face and voice for democracy!
