CCIA Highlights
LETTER FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Chris Shapard Headshot
I hope you saw the announcement of the Mining Cleantech Challenge recently. Hard on the heels of the 3rd successful market-driven program with the oil and gas industry, we were approached by the mining industry to organize the same, and were able to launch with several incredible mining partners.

Led by partners Resource Capital FundsJolimont Capital ,
Newmont Mining, McEwen Mining, Ausenco and Davis Graham and Stubbs, we launched the Mining Cleantech Challenge on February 6 and will conclude the process and initiative on April 12 with a day-long pitch event and reception at the Colorado Governor's Mansion. An invitation to the reception will be forthcoming.

We now have a proven model that can be rolled out for new markets and are able to point to successful outcomes. Connecting companies to customers and capital are two of CCIA's main objectives and we're doing just that.

Sincerely,
Chris Shapard
CCIA Executive Director

COSEIA

SunTech Drive
SunTech Drive is a manufacturer of a new generation of power electronics for the off-grid solar market.  Based on firmware vs. legacy electromagnetics their controllers operate with 50% less PV capacity and for the first time allow single phase motors to operate directly off  of PV solar power.

Policy Update
Capitol

Last week, HB 17-1090 (Advanced Industries Investor Tax Credit Extension) passed the House Business Affairs Committee on a solid bipartisan vote of 9-4. This important bill doubles the amount of existing tax credits available for qualified investors to invest in innovative start-up and early stage companies and extends the program till 2023. Next stop for the bill is the House Finance Committee on March 1st.

Stay tuned next week for the next installment of the Under of the Dome update with a breakdown of all the bills we are watching on behalf of the Cleantech business community.

Workforce Information
Professor at CU-Boulder Seeks Project Sponsors
Professor Richard Mignogna, who is teaching an Energy Policy Projects course (ENST-4150) in the Environmental Studies Department at the University of Colorado - Boulder this semester, is seeking project sponsors to engage small student groups in projects that will solve a real need for the sponsor. The goal of the course is to provide students with an opportunity to complete a real world project that is or would be of interest to a corporate, governmental, or other NGO sponsor in the realm of energy policy and regulation. Suitable subject areas include, but are not limited to, utilities and electrical generation, transmission, fossil fuel development, alternative energy resources, transportation fuels, transportation technologies, and energy storage among others.

The semester runs from mid-January through the end of April. Student groups will present their final reports to the class and their sponsors some time in the last two weeks of April. The students will not be paid and it is suggested that any funds that would otherwise be available to pay interns instead be used to cover any project related expenses.

For more information, please email or call Richard Mignogna,  303.875.0857.
