Updates and fun stuff
It's the first newsletter of 2017. I've been thinking of things to make the newsletter more fun and I hope you like the changes. If you have any comments or suggestions I'd love to hear them. I'm always open to making it more of an entertaining read so shoot me some yeas or nays and I'm all ears on your advice.
"Key Westy Things"
Living in a "tourist destination," I thought it would be fun to share tidbits and brief observations in this spot. Key West is more than Duval Street, after all. There's lots to experience on this small island and islands beyond.

February is a great time to escape winter and head to Key West. As I write this, the temperature is 71 F and is projected to be 81 F later today. What to do…

I highly recommend visiting The Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden on Stock Island, which is the next island after leaving Key West. The only frost free botanical garden in the contiguous U.S., it features many exotic tropical plants and "heritage" plantings as well as a butterfly garden and many opportunities for bird watchers. They are getting ready for their annual GardenFest and monthly plant sale this coming weekend. We will be playing music during the festival along with many other Key West artists.

Open daily from 10am to 4pm the Botanical Gardens is a relaxing stroll through what Key West used to look like before it was settled. General admission is only $7, $5 for seniors and military, children under 12 get in free. Photo:  Bandana of the Everglades (Canna flaccida) by Beryn Harty

I'm Live!
Performing in Key West is a regular, weekly thing. Having regular gigs is such a blessing. That said, I will breaking off "the Rock" to travel into SW Florida a few times this year. Below is a link to my upcoming live performances.

This month, next week in fact, we will be in Cape Coral at Destination D'Arts and J & L's Lei Low for house concerts. It's always great to catch up with friends and house concerts are a more intimate way to hear music and stories. If you want to schedule me to play in your house or in your area, my contact info is down below.

Video contest
I recently entered NPR's Tiny Desk Concert Contest with my song "I Like It Hot." In the video are The Shanty Hounds, me, Key West Chris and Bob Tucker. If you'd like to see more videos and find out more about the contest click the link below. The competition is amazing, so I'm not expecting a win, but it is awesome to be on a website with all of these talented artists.

Thank you!
I hope you enjoyed your newsletter. Again, I welcome your comments and suggestions. Please stay in touch. The next newsletter will be in a month. If you have anyone that would be interested in subscribing, refer them to me and I'll send you a FREE PARTY POPPER!
