Building Our Learning Environment

If you have not seen me in person recently, you may not be aware that my husband and I are expecting our first child, due to arrive at the end of April! It has been so exciting to see ultrasound photos, hear the baby's heart beat, and share our joy with our family and friends as we anticipate this life-changing event.

"Keeping Our Kids Safe Online"  Presentation

Thursday, February 23, 2017
7:00 p.m. in Pleasantdale Middle's APR

Communication tools and social media sites continue to develop and expand at a remarkable pace. Our children have access to incredible new worlds, and with that, run the risk of exposure to a host of new challenges and dangers. Keeping our children safe in this digital world becomes increasingly more important each day. And with each new App that becomes the "next big thing",  the challenge to keep up with these changes becomes increasingly difficult.

Pleasantdale Middle School is happy to have a great resource to help keep our children and families safe online. Detective Rich Wistocki will be here to talk with our students and families on Thursday, February 23rd, 2017. Detective Wistocki will be speaking to our students at two assemblies during the day, and again that evening to our families at 7:00 PM in the APR. The presentation will cover all aspects of, what to look out for and what the signs are to know about with cell phone and internet usage and best practices to keep safe, regardless of the app or social media site.

Detective Wistocki is one of our nation's leading experts in this field.  He is a wonderful advocate for our families, and we are excited to have him join us here at Pleasantdale. To learn more, please click here.

Please RSVP for the presentation by Feb. 22: click here.

Screenagers was created by a pediatrician and probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, depicting messy struggles over social media, video games, academics, and internet addiction. This is a FREE event and parents are encouraged to bring their children. At the conclusion of the film we will engage in a short community dialogue.

Please save the date for this important event and help us continue or partnership to ensure a safe and supportive digital environment for our kids.
