THE FAREWELL PARTY (Film Program)

Join us for a poignant and humorous film about life in an Israeli nursing home that deals with end of life decisions followed by discussion. Dr. Myron Lazar, PH.D., Psychoanalyst and Clinical Psychologist will moderate. Discussants will include Mary Turner, PH.D., expert in treating geriatric patients with chronic illness and life issues and Paul Chavetz, PH.D., who works with aging adults struggling with difficult transitions.

DOING JEWISH: ALIYAH TO TORAH

Not everyone is comfortable with the mitzvah of Aliyah. We worry about kissing the tzitzit at the right time, stumbling over the Hebrew, and knowing when to move to the other side of the table. Yet all adult Jews have the privilege and obligation to lead the community in this way. Come learn more about this mitzvah and gain confidence in performing it!

LOST IN AMERICA
(A Charity Fundraiser benefiting City House & MDHA Dallas)

Who: Rotimi Rainwater, the film's director and producer, will be in attendance, and there will be post-screening meet and greet and photo opportunities.
Congregation Beth Torah is invited to an exclusive fundraising and awareness event to see a phenomenal documentary, that promises to take film festivals, this year, by storm, as well as inspire you to act on behalf of homeless youth.
Your ticket price is a tax deductible donation, and proceeds will benefit homeless youth in Dallas and Collin Counties. As Senator Patrick Leahy, a champion of homeless youth in Congress, says, "To make change, the public needs to know not just numbers, but faces and stories behind those numbers. 'Lost In America' is doing just that." This film is not for the faint of heart. It is real. It is raw. It inspires. And, YOU need to see it.
THE CONVERSATION PROJECT

We all know that conversations are not easy when it comes to end of life issues. Most of us also know how easy it is to avoid these issues. "Parents are reluctant to "worry" their adult children; children are reluctant to bring up dying with their elderly parents. We like to say "it's too soon," when we know it's always too soon until it's too late." Join Peggy Papert as she leads a discussion to help us prepare for these critical conversations.
ISRAELI SOLDIERS' TOUR

Join us for an Israeli Kiddush luncheon and hear the stories of two inspiring young Israelites-their struggles, their successes, their military service, and their hopes and dreams.
