From the Principal's Desk
Dear St. Michael Families,
The Blues and White Ball was a huge success. Parents, families, staff and alumni came dressed festively in the disco, denim or diamonds theme and ready to enjoy the live band, Johan and the Whales. Our more "seasoned attendees" gathered around the "70's themed dessert bar" reminiscing about the good old days when "wax lips, candy cigarettes, and Charleston Chews" were in abundance. Staff walked the room taking old-fashioned Polaroid pictures of the guests. All enjoyed watching as the picture came out of the camera and developed slowly, making current memories of days gone by. Thanks to all of you who came out to support our annual gala event and those that bid electronically from home.
A very special thank you to this year's Gala committee: Kris Hall, Maggie Stack, Chris Chappuis, Beth Gassen, Lynn Loehr, and Jessica Maslow for planning such a fun evening for our community.
And we could not have had a successful fundraising event without our business sponsors: Ames Construction, Babcock and Morgan, DCM Property Management, Drews Total Concrete, GG Boutique, Klein Bank and Mandinec Landscaping. Thank you business sponsors for being faithful supporters of our school.
Do not forget to register for the 2017- 2018 school year before March 1st. On March 1st the registration fee doubles going up to $200.00 per child with a max of $600.00 per family. Registrations are coming in quickly with almost half of our K- 8 grade families already registered. Our 4 year old preschool program has almost completely filled two classrooms, with only 3 spots available for next year. Please do not wait to register and end up on a waiting list.
Please keep all of our Catholic Elementary Principals in your prayers as we attend an Archdiocesan Principal Retreat
this Thursday and
Friday. I look forward to being back at school
on Tuesday.
Blessings,

VIRTUS Training
In response to the Charter for the Protection of Children and Youth, the Archdiocese of Minneapolis and St. Paul requires training sessions for all adult volunteers having contact with children, youth and vulnerable adults. The program specifically addresses how the entire parish and school communities can protect all of God's children from sexual abuse. Along with attending a Virtus session, a background check and code of conduct is required by those 18 and older to volunteer with minors and vulnerable adults. These items can be done online while registering for the Virtus session. Please see Stmichael-pl.org, under the faith formation tab with instructions on how to complete these items. A FREE VIRTUS training is being offered at St. Michael Catholic Church on Sunday, February 26th from 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. in Archangels Hall. Please register ahead online at www.virtus.org. Call Tammie at 952-447-2491 if you need assistance.
