UPSIDE DOWN FAITH - A VIDEO BASED SERIES
________________________________________________________________________________________________
Adult Sunday Morning Bible Study @ 9:30 am
February 26 - April 2, 2017

  • How do things get turned so upside down?
  • What's God doing these days?
  • Can anybody make sense of how crazy things seem to be?
With questions like these, Darkwood Brew heads into the Bible and the book of Colossians to see how we might get some insight. Based on a book by Rev. Bruce Van Blair, pastor of New Church, Port Townsend, WA this series guides our faith in some very unexpected ways.

Membership at Christ Church:

How do you become a member of Christ Church?
  1. If you are baptized, then you are a Baptized member of the congregation. If you were Baptized in another denomination or church, do need to know where and when you were baptized. We will include you in our books and then you are baptized member of Christ Church.
  2. All baptized members are encouraged to receive the sacrament of confirmation. In confirmation 'we express a mature commitment to Christ and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop.' After confirmation, a person is a confirmed member.
  3. If you were baptized and confirmed in another church you may be received (rather than reconfirmed) by a bishop of The Episcopal Church. This makes you a confirmed member of The Episcopal Church.
  4. If you attend on a regular basis and have not expressed a desire to become a member of the church, please call us so we can get you on our list.

THE FOOD AND FEASTS OF JESUS
A Lenten Series

Wednesdays, March 8 - April 5
The Food and
Feasts of Jesus
by Douglas E. Neel
and Joel A Pugh

This book offers new insights on the life and times of Jesus and his contemporaries. In the book are chapters about feasts, food production, simple meals, and ingredients. The book offers recipes to make their own meals that would have been eaten at the time of Jesus.

Starting on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 and for five weeks through April 5, 2017 we will gather together as a community to make some of these recipes and eat a meal together. We will have conversation about the book and the recipes. Most of all, we can make dinner together.

The way it will work: We will read a chapter of the book the week before. Two or three recipes will be chosen and folks will sign up to bring ingredients for those recipes. We will gather together for worship at 6:30 pm and then make dinner, set the table and eat.

The book is available on Amazon.com in paperback.

Watch for more details including a signup sheet!

PRAYER REQUEST SUBMISSIONS
Tell me more about the prayer ministry at CEC:

We are a group of people who are dedicated to praying daily for your intentions, your needs and those of your family and friends.

How can I submit a name for prayer?

We will need the full name of the person for our office records. Names will remain on the prayer list for one month. It will be necessary to add names each month if necessary.

Please send the names of those for whom you wish to pray to Sharon at cectxcommunications@gmail.com.

Many in the congregation have asked if we can start to print the list of those for whom we are praying on a day to day basis. The answer is yes. The list will be printed each Sunday and first names only will be said at the prayers of the people.

On Sundays, or after any service, you can complete one of the prayer cards which are placed in every pew. Should there not be a prayer card in your pew, please let one of the ushers know and he/she will assist you. There is a wood Prayer Box, so marked, at the rear of the church on the right hand side as you exit. In completing the prayer request card or when e-mailing, please let us know if you require a call from either Fr. Trawin or Deacon Jan.

All requests are kept in strictest confidence and are only discussed within the ministry if clarification is needed.
ONLINE GIVING

"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure,
pressed down, shaken together, running over,
will be put into your lap; for the measure you will
give will be the measure you get back." -- Luke 6:38
