Multiple campus events planned for National TRiO Month
February is National TRiO Month, and K-State Polytechnic is celebrating! The Federal TRiO Programs are federal outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Student Support Services and Upward Bound are celebrating National TRiO Month by partnering with Saint Francis Community Services, a non-profit, faith based organization that is dedicated to serving children and families.
Boxes have been set around campus to collect donations such as gift cards (College Center 208), notebooks, pens/pencils, hygiene products, clothes, diapers, clothing for infants and toddlers, unopened toys, stuffed animals, socks, mittens, stocking hats, flip flops, etc.
Boxes can be found in the lobbies of the Aviation Center, Technology Center, College Center, Student Life Center and Welcome Center. Thanks for helping families in need!

K-State Faculty Senate to host open forum on Polytechnic Campus with university president, provost
 The Faculty Senate of Kansas State University will be hosting an open forum with the president and provost on the Polytechnic Campus on Feb. 13, from 9 to 10 a.m. in the College Center Conference Room.
The forum will provide an opportunity for the campus community to visit with President Myers and Provost Mason. Faculty Senate executive committee members will begin with a few questions,
and then audience members will be given the opportunity to ask further questions. The event will be video streamed online for those unable to attend in person. The link

EOF allocation application notice
Attention all Kansas State Polytechnic clubs, organizations, programs and students: Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) packets are now available and will be due
Friday, March 17, 2017 by 4 p.m. if you are to be considered for funding this Spring 2017.
EOF is a special allocation of funding that aims to serve our campus and its students in a very unique way. Eligible projects and items for this funding is as follow:
1. Academic scholarships and fellowships for both graduate and undergraduate students.
2. Need-based grants, including awards to students with special expenses, or groups of students who have been historically under-represented in higher education.
3. Salaries or grants for students participating in public and community service programs.
4. Salaries for students employed in campus student services programs.
If you believe that you or your project fits any of these four basic requirements, please don't hesitate to apply for EOF funding. To begin the process, visit

Caddystacks is back! Putt-putt golf design competition returns Feb. 23
Did you know you can play golf in the library, and be a part of designing the course?
The fun game of Caddystacks, which combines a design competition with putt-putt golf, is being held again this spring semester on Thursday, Feb. 23 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to use their imagination, creativity and innovation to design one hole of golf with personally found objects. Katherine Jones, an assistant professor in the library, encourages participants to put together a course that is fun yet challenging.
Since Caddystacks is made up of only nine holes, only nine individual or group designers will be chosen and applications should be turned in as soon as possible.
The submitted en
tries will be judged by library staff and prizes will be handed out to player-voted best, most difficult course and best design.
The game will be come-and-go from
5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Feb. 23.
The library will be open for set up on the same day from 4 to 4:45 p.m.

The Networking Fair is a great opportunity for businesses to connect with students on campus. Students will be able to meet with potential employers and receive information about the organization, internship opportunities, co-op positions, or full-time positions.
The Networking Fair will be on Wed., Feb. 15. in the College Center Conference Room.

Technical writing class builds wall of wasted plastics
Students in this semester's Technical Writing class, taught by English instructor Liticia Salter, have been tasked with a very unique project: collecting all of their throw-away plastics for five days and creating a display to demonstrate its impact.
This wall of wasted plastics is part of a bigger assignment focused on the aspects of plastic pollution and recycling. Students will also put together a DIY repurposing project and will write a key influencer or manufacturer a researched report recommending a move away from plastic.

K-State Polytechnic students put talents on display in fun campus show
Singing, playing an instrument and even solving a Rubik's cube in 27 seconds were among the talents on display at the first K-State Polytechnic Talent Show.
This years talent show was planned by Residence Life Coordinator, Cody Waterman, along with the help of the K-State Polytechnic Residence Assistants. Elliott Rodgers and Max Badgett, Senior RA's, were the MC's for the evenings production.
Their hope is to make the talent show a yearly tradition for the Polytechnic Campus.
There were 11 total entries by students, along with a surprise staff dance by Garett Ludlum, Ellen Fixsen, Julie Rowe, Alyssa Wendell and Cody Waterman.
At the end of the night, Keegan Swanson was announced as the winner. She displayed her singing ability with the song 'Wild One' by Faith Hill.
