GRANTOR SPOTLIGHT

The Greater Cincinnati Foundation helps generous people achieve their charitable goals and align their goals with community needs. GCF inspire philanthropy by connecting donors, partners and organizations, addressing some of the most difficult problems they face with innovative solutions.

GCF has awarded $1 billion to local causes over the past five decades. This amazing investment serves as more than a legacy of compassion and commitment. It also serves as a springboard to dream even bigger, making more of a positive impact on the lives of our tristate neighbors.

"The Greater Cincinnati Foundation strengthens our community in countless ways," said CincyTech President Mike Venerable.  "Our missions converge around the creation of economic opportunity."

"CincyTech made a big commitment in 2007 to generate 1,000 local jobs through supporting new business strategies," said Robert Killins, Jr., GCF's Director of Giving Strategies. "They are solidly on track to deliver this goal. This is very exciting - it's not only the jobs that are important; it keeps great entrepreneurial minds in the region."

Thank you, Greater Cincinnati Foundation, for being a partner in our mission.

NOTES

CincyTech's New President

"I want people to know the human impact our portfolio companies make in the world."

In a decade as CincyTech managing director, Mike Venerable helped to grow many of those companies, and CincyTech, from the ground up.  Two months into his tenure as CincyTech president, Venerable reflects on progress and the path forward.

"The progress since 2005 has, I think, surprised us all. We have now moved on to what is possible in our region," says Venerable.  "But I think we are probably in the 2nd decade of a generational transformation. The best metaphor is flight. Planes reach a point of acceleration where they can leave the ground; the lift generated by their wings can carry the weight of the plane, fuel and cargo/passengers. There's a moment where the weight shifts from wheels to wings. That's where we are. The wings have all the weight, but we need to keep the throttles on full to keep climbing. Most of the best things will happen in the years to come.

"We are good at finding opportunities in SW Ohio that have potential and then helping rally the right talent and dollars around them. We are the connection point for more than 100 investors, more than 50 CEOs and founders, 800+ employees, and a broad circle of grantors. The community of people around CincyTech, the network in today's terms, has a lot more potential energy to release. That's my goal."

ReadySet Surgical Partners with Mercy Health

ReadySet Surgical, whose software helps hospitals avoid costly operating room delays, has landed investment and a unique partnership with Mercy Health, the largest nonprofit healthcare system in Ohio.

Mercy Health will use the software in its own hospitals and work with ReadySet to co-develop surgical supply chain tools to further operating room efficiency.

Surgical delays that occur when vendor-supplied devices, instruments and implants are not sterilized and available on time cost US hospitals billions of dollars annually and impact patient care.

"Mercy's belief and support in our mission is critical to our long-term success," said ReadySet founder Keerthi Kanubaddi. "If we intend to solve some of the biggest problems in the surgical supply chain, we need an IDN (Integrated Delivery Network) partner to help validate design, provide real-world testing and ultimately utilize the platform."
