Third Thursday New London Art is a gallery and downtown
walk event designed to showcase the fantastic artistic resources
of New London.
It will run the third Thursday of every month from April to November
from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at the Public Library of New London,
providing a sense of community for attendees.
Meet artist
Aly Maderson Quinlog.
She is a dynamic multi-disciplinary/multi-media artist, poet, and art educator whose photographic work has been exhibited in Honolulu, HI and Tokyo, Japan.
She teaches workshops on alternative process photography, poetry, and book arts throughout New England.
She attended Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography in 2002. More recently she earned a Post Baccalaureate certificate in Painting from the Lyme Academy of Arts in Old Lyme, CT and her Master of Art Education from Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI.
Aly Maderson Quinlog's instinctual art based on decades of deep aesthetic studies will be on display at the library high-lighting her works based in conventional Book Arts.
Her work is deeply influenced by Riot Grrrl, underground comix, and drag culture. She has studied Bookbinding at Rhode Island School of Design and learned less traditional book-making methods from a myriad of folks in the DIY, punk-influenced art scene.
