Lovejoy High School

A Message from the Principal

Lovejoy HS News 02 06 17

Parents and Guardians,

Whether you watched the Super Bowl, enjoyed the commercials, or boycotted the whole event, I hope you and your student had a great weekend.  One of my sons, who has been a New England Patriot fan for as long as we can remember, entertained all of us with his celebration at the end of the game.  I think I enjoyed that more than the game.

As part of our programming to help students pursue their areas of passion, LHS will host our annual Showcase tonight from 6-8 p.m.  The Showcase gives students an opportunity to learn about AP courses, elective classes, Career and Technology opportunities, extra-curricular offerings, as well as clubs and organizations that exist at LHS.  Parents and students who attend tonight will be able to visit with teachers, coaches, and sponsors to help students get an idea of what classes they want to register for, as well as what other opportunities are available at LHS.  In years past, we have held this event in the LHS Commons, but tonight we have teachers throughout the building so that students can see the classrooms and facilities they will be using.

Another important part of the evening is the two parent presentations our counselors will host with information about the student registration process for next school year.  Parents of current 9th, 10th, and 11th graders have their session beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the LHS Auditorium.  The registration presentation for parents of current 8th graders will begin at 7:15 p.m. in the same location.  These presentations are specifically for parents, but students are also welcome to attend.

Hope to see you tonight,

Chris Mayfield
Principal
Lovejoy High School
NOTE:
In an effort to be as efficient as possible, we prioritize our parent email as follows:
* New or time-sensitive topics of interest are at the top of the list
* Followed by the Calendar of Events and Activities
* Older items appear below the calendar until they become obsolete

Java and Jazz Concert

Join us for an evening of great music starting at 7 pm on Friday, February 17th. We will have coffee and dessert items for you to enjoy while you relax and listen. Don't get too comfortable though, as we will have an open dance floor for students and parents alike. We will play a combination of some classic swing-era classics and slow ballads. We want a crowded dance floor...don't be shy!

The concert will start at 7:00 pm with a set of music played by the high school jazz band, a short break, and then the vocalists will join us for the rest of the evening. We will end with everyone's favorite swing tune, "In the Mood."

This is a free event! Join us!!
