Student Shout Outs!  You guys are amazing!
JUNIOR RETREAT
Campus Minister Mr. Cobb planned an awesome overnight retreat for the Junior Class. They went up to a El Camino Pines in Frazier Park. Another great tradition started by Mr. Cobb. Look for the Junior Search retreat next year and don't miss out!
CONGRATULATIONS JARED!

During lunch on Thursday, Garces held a three point basketball shooting contest in the gym.  Mr. Mark Brown organized the contest and kept the contestants moving along with the help of scorekeeper John Abrams.  It's of no surprise that the top three finishers were all on the Boys Varsity Basketball Team.  1st Place was Jared Lubatti, 2nd Place was Sam Sakowski and 3rd Place was Emmet McCormick.  All three won gift cards to the Student Store and Jared also received a gift card to Victor's Mexican Grill.
CONGRATULATIONS ON FILLING THE BIN!
Thank you to everyone who helped us to "Fill the Bin' with coats, sweatshirts and beanies for the children who are helped through the Jamison Children's Center.  The Jamison Children's Center is a 24-hour emergency shelter and protective custody facility, operated by the Human Services Department of Kern County. As the only emergency shelter in Kern County for abused, neglected and exploited children, Jamison Children's Center temporarily houses children who are taken into protective custody by law enforcement agencies or social workers.  Often those children come in with only the clothes on their back.  It was heart-warming to see so many of you support the facility and the children they serve.  You guys filled and filled the bin - eventually filling up the back of Mr. Cobb's truck!

THEO CLASSES VISIT SYNAGOGUE
Garces Theology teacher, Ms. Sierra, took her classes over to Temple Beth El, our neighbor to the north of campus. It was an opportunity for the students to see first hand how the Jewish faith is practiced inside a temple. They viewed their Torah up close, heard about the Hebrew language, learned about some of the Jewish customs and traditions, and most importantly, practiced respect and understanding for other religious beliefs.
FIESTA TIME IN MR. LEHENY'S CLASS!
Garces Spanish teacher Mr. Bill Leheny knows the way to a student's heart - throw a fiesta during class!  Mr. Leheny includes a lesson on Spanish culture by having the students bring in traditional food items for the class to share.  Pictured is Mr. Leheny's 7th Period class.
