Tu B'Shevat Celebration

Although, we had mountains of snow here,Tu B'Shevat marks the beginning of spring in Israel and is marked by the flowering of the almond tree. 
It is the Jewish Earth Day has been traditionally a holiday where Israeli school children plant trees and clean up the environment. 
We also affirm our connection with Israel by eating the foods mentioned in the Bible called the"Seven Species."
Wheat, barley, grapes (wine), figs, olives (oil), pomegranates, dates (used to make honey) were the seven staple foods during Biblical times.
