Highlights from 1st-5th Grade Classes this Week:

* Happy St. Valentine's Day - Another holiday which first began as a Catholic Saint's Feast day but is now celebrated by most of the world!  We don't say " Happy___ Patrick's Day, so let's put the SAINT back into St. Valentine's Day!

We shared so much LOVE in RE this week!!! Thank you to all the students who came to RE despite a busy (and sugar-filled) St. Valentine's Day week at school.  The students were WONDERFUL listeners and learners, and shared so politely in our Large Group Opening Lesson and in their classrooms.  Please give your kids a hug from their catechists and our parish staff!

*Prepare for the 7th Sunday in Ordinary Time:  Desk work from the Gospel of Matthew 5: 44-45, "But I say to you, LOVE your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father."

Thanks to Claire Murray, 4th grade, for the beautiful picture below:

The desk work below was done by two 3rd grade boys who were very surprised that they had colored their pictures almost exactly the same!

Great Work Tanner Quinlivan, 1st Grade!

*The greatest act of LOVE the world has ever known is Christ giving his very life for us on the cross, then giving Himself to us in the Eucharist until He comes again.
Click HERE to listen to the angelic singing of the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles (located just one hour north of KC in Gower, MO) and see the video we watched this week.

The students were visibly moved and quieted by this enchanting music. Play it at home to experience the same result we had at Religious Ed.

This music video helped us understand the sacred beauty of Eucharistic Adoration...Christ Himself made present for an extended personal visit with us.

Below is our awesome Wednesday 4:30 5th grade.  Last week I subbed in  Mrs. Boyce's class, and then this week for Mrs. Stern & Mrs. Meyer's class.  I can tell you first-hand:   These students are a true JOY.  Thank you parents and thank you catechists for helping them to realize that learning their Catholic Faith is super important and can be super fun!

And below are some awesome students from Mrs. Miller's Tuesday 5th grade class and a few others who wanted to be in the picture! :)

As always, we ask you to please park in a parking spot and walk your students into the building or walk them to the "car free zone" directly in front of the cafeteria doors between the gate and orange cones.

Curbside drop-off is only allowed along the sidewalk in the front of the school, but entry into the building is still through the cafeteria doors.  Cars may not pass or create two lanes for the safety of students exiting cars.

Please be patient, and help us to keep all students safe. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation once again!

This past week, our 6th graders focused on Lent, which begins in two short weeks. We discussed how these 40 days of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving are a time for us to grow closer to Christ, by realizing we need His strength during this time.

Here's a list we went over of some different and challenging things to give up for Lent:  http://lifeteen.com/blog/102-things-really-give-lent/
