FROM THE OFFICE OF THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your support during Catholic Schools Week.  Our students had an enjoyable week that began with a school wide Mass.  We celebrated our school being given the Olympic Conference 2015-16 Sportsmanship Award, and our junior and seniors who participated in "Manuary" were recognized for their efforts in service and fundraising.  Our week continued with fun events for the students like karaoke and ice cream at lunch.  We also congratulated our students-athletes who will continue to be involved in athletics at the collegiate level on National Signing Day.  Activities during the week included honoring our religious alumni and teachers as well as recognizing our faculty.  Catholic Schools Week was truly exciting at CCHS.

As we move into the month of February, we will recognize African-American History Month at CCHS.  Throughout the month, students will see displays and information about African-American heroes and events that helped to shape our country, and we will have some special activities.  In honor of African-American History month, CCHS will sponsor a student contest as one of our activities.  Details are found in this newsletter and will be available for students at school.

This week at CCHS, parents are invited to participate in our Parent Teacher Interviews.  Report cards are currently posted on Ren Web.  Teachers will be available on Thursday, February 9 from 6:30 - 8:30 to discuss student progress.  There are no appointments for these meetings; parents may visit any teachers during that time frame.

This week, students will also learn what courses are available to them during the 2017-18 school year.  We will have short morning assemblies in advance of sending home course selection information.  All directions for course section will come via email.  Please be sure your email addresses are correct in Ren Web.

I hope you have a wonderful week,
Heather Crisci
Principal

PSAT Test results will be given out to freshman, sophomores and juniors  February 6-10.  Parents please ask your student for the results.

ALL PARENTS: TRANSPORTATION FUNDING-PLEASE READ

Problem
1.  Current Catholic school students can only obtain a ride to school for a maximum of $884 per student.

2.  Many bus companies and school districts are unwilling/unable to transport students at the $884 rate.

3. The ceiling should match cost of living increases, which has not happened since the 2007-2008 school year.

What can you do?
Ask Governor to increase funding for nonpublic school transportation in his Fiscal Year 2017 Budget.  If your family has been affected by this problem, or you know of families who have, tell the Governor the details.  Even if the bussing problem does not apply to you, but you believe in Catholic education, please contact Governor Christie.
