Grad Lawn Signs for 2017 Graduating Seniors
Personalized Grad Lawn signs will be available for purchase for $25/$35 on March 1. Deadline for ordering is May 5th. Click on the seniors page (under students) on the school website at

Class of 2017 Graduation Announcements
The deadline for ordering Graduation Announcements has been extended to March 3. Please click on the Seniors page (under Students) on the school website at

GRADUATION PACKAGE
The deadline for 2017 graduates to order caps and gowns before a $25 price increase is March 14
. A graduation package (required for participation in the graduation ceremony)
consists of a navy gown with embroidered Milton "M," cap, 2017 tassel, and diploma cover. The cap, gown, and tassel will be delivered to students in one package prior to the ceremony. Diploma covers are distributed during the ceremony. For those students who already have the required cap and gown, a package consisting of just the diploma cover and 2017 tassel can be ordered. Graduates who have not ordered and paid for a diploma cover (either as part of the graduation package or separately) prior to the ceremony will have their diplomas held. All orders should be placed online at

by March 14.
GRADUATION
The 2017 MHS graduation ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 25 at 8:00PM in the Milton stadium. Tickets are not required. Graduates are allowed an unlimited number of guests. However, seating is on a first come, first served basis. The rain date will be Friday, May 26 at 10:00AM.

2018 YEARBOOK STAFF APPLICATIONS
The deadline for yearbook staff applications has been extended to Friday, March 3 at 8:15AM. Yearbook is a class; you need a year-long space available in your schedule to take it. If interested, please pick up an application from Ms. Plonka's door, room 2303.

CLASS OF 2017 RED ENVELOPES
ATTENTION SENIOR PARENTS
Following our wonderful Milton Tradition, we are once again giving relatives, friends, and teachers of our 2017 graduates an extra opportunity to honor our students.
Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, teachers, neighbors, clergy, and friends may send your Senior student a special letter of congratulations on his or her upcoming graduation in May 2017. We will carefully keep these cards and letters for each student and distribute them after the Senior Breakfast. Every Senior will receive a large
RED ENVELOPE containing these messages and well wishes. The letters and cards will be kept confidential and are given to the students at the senior breakfast.
You can drop off your cards and letters at the front office in the red box labeled "RED ENVELOPES" or you can mail them to the school using the following address:

2017 PTSA SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS
PTSA is excited to announce its 9th Annual Student Scholarship Program. We will be giving $10,100 away in scholarships for overall academics, math, science, language arts, history, athletics, art, music, performing arts, technology, community service, Milton service/leadership and a special talent award. To find more information and requirements please go to www.miltonptsa.com. Students can also pick up a scholarship packet in the College and Career Center, The Media Hub, or Counseling Suite 1340. The deadline for applications is March 3 at 4:00PM. The student or parent must be a member of the PTSA to be considered for an award. You may join the PTSA at www.miltonptsa.com.
2017 SENIOR SLIDE SHOW
We are now collecting photos for the Class of 2017's end of the year slideshow! Please read the below guidelines and email your two photos before the deadline to insure that you are represented!
Deadline: Friday, March 31, 2017
Each senior may submit TWO recent appropriate photos. We want pictures of every senior, so be sure to submit yours! Individual and group photos are allowed.
You will get an automatic reply when your email is received. In order to ensure your photos are included in the slideshow, please follow these instructions:
File names: Save as "Last Name, First Name 1" and "Last name, first name 2" of the senior(s)
Subject line: In the subject line of the email, please put senior's last name, first name
Group photos: please include names of each person in photo.
File size: Submit actual size or large, high quality photos. Please NO low resolution or small file size pictures. Pictures saved from social media and screen shots of cell phone photos will NOT work. 1 MB and up would be great! Only appropriate photos will be included (appropriate clothing, depictions, etc.).
If you submit inappropriate photos, they will not be used.
Failure to follow above instructions will result in your pictures not being included in the slideshow. Please be certain to pay your senior dues to ensure you receive a DVD at the Senior Breakfast.

2017 AP EXAM INFORMATION
EXAM REGISTRATION
The AP Exam Registration opened up at 12:01am, February 3, 2017 and runs through March 9, 2017. Registrations made after 11:59 PM, Thursday, Mar 9, 2017 will incur a $25 late fee per exam. Registration closes at 11:59pm, March 16, 2017. There will a link on the school website under "Students" and on the main page. STUDENT TRANSCRIPTS
Now that all of the grades have been posted from the fall semester, please review your MHS transcript. Please also be sure to check your transcript for any credits that should have transferred from the middle school. If you see any errors regarding classes, credits, grades, honors points, etc. please contact your counselor ASAP.
MILITARY AWARDS/APPOINTMENTS
Seniors- The Milton High School Counseling department would like to recognize those seniors who are receiving military awards or appointments following graduation. If you are accepting a military award please contact Dr. Marsh at [email protected] by March 1.
MOVE ON WHEN READY
Students who are interested in participating in MOWR (Move on When Ready) should review the information at https://mhsmowr.wordpress.com/. This program includes College English classes, Georgia Tech distant math classes, part-time dual enrollment, and full-time dual enrollment. MOWR applications will be available with Dr. Marsh in 1340. The application deadline is March 31; please note that this is a Fulton County deadline, which is earlier than most of the college deadlines. Acceptance to the college or university is required for the MOWR program; admission requirements vary for each college or university. For additional questions please schedule an appointment with your Counselor.
HOPE/ZELL MILLER SCHOLARSHIPS Are you applying for HOPE or Zell Miller? If so, then we need to have a copy of your Social Security Card on file. If you are unsure if the school has this information on file, please see Ms. Dolores Shamis in suite 1340.
Please note that this is only the first step in HOPE eligibility. In order to apply for HOPE, you may log in to your student's GA Futures account at www.gafutures.org.

Application Procedure: Students have two options when applying for the HOPE Scholarship: 1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or, 2. Complete the online GSFAPPS application or printable paper GSFAPPS application. Note: The FAFSA must be completed each year. Please be sure to monitor each college/university's deadline for submitting the FAFSA/GSFAPPS application.

Join us Tuesday, February 28 at 6:30PM in the CCC (Room 2201). This meeting is specifically geared towards our rising 9th grade families, so please feel free to forward this information on to anyone that you feel would benefit. It is never too early to start financially planning for college. This is a free event, but we must take reservations to ensure space. The SOAR seminar on March 2 is aimed at our seniors that have received their acceptances and award letters. This seminar will give you some tips and guidelines for comparing the awards that you have received so far.

If you need information on where to get started, please stop by. Both of these will earn you points for the House Competition!
JUNIORS: Junior Meetings are finishing up this week. Thank you to those that joined us. The next step is JUNIOR BOOTCAMP, which will be held March 6-9. If you missed your Junior Meeting date, you are still invited and welcome to join us for Junior Boot Camp...it's for every Junior! Please follow the link to sign up for a space. You only need to attend one session. We will be discussing the college application process in further detail, as well as helping you start a timeline to keep you on track and what to expect for the fall application season.

TRACK & FIELD
Congratulations to the Milton Track & Field team for it's strong finish at the Roswell 8-Way Invitational this past Saturday! The boy's team finished
2nd to Marietta (148-112) and the girls were
7th (54.5 pts). Team wins on the girls side came from the
4x1600m relay (22:46.80) which is the fastest time in the state this season and the 8th fastest in school history! Senior
