Our spring activities guide is hot off the press, and in honor of our 50th anniversary, it highlights plenty of new opportunities to explore your parks from March through May. Families can choose from activities like Trails for Tots, Life Under a Log, Amphibian Amble, and Wildlife Tracking for Kids. For adults, outings include wildflower walks, a hike on Hood Mountain's new addition, a lesson in rare vernal pool botany in the Sonoma Valley, raptor viewing on North Sonoma Mountain, and a backpacking clinic at Ragle Ranch.

How will you spend this weekend before Valentine's Day? The forecast calls for sunny skies, so why not get a jump on Cupid by planning a day trip with your special someone.  Here are three suggestions for finding a secluded spot on the Sonoma Coast, above the Sonoma Valley, or beside the Russian River.

The impacts of January's storms are still being felt in some parks, especially along the Russian River. Dozens of big trees were toppled, roads and trails saturated, restrooms and picnic areas covered by mud, and piles of storm debris deposited by floodwaters. Crews are working hard to clear trails, and we appreciate your patience as we get the parks safe and open.

The way-cool Junior Lifeguard Surf Camp at Doran Beach is back for spring break March 20-23Kids 9 and older will learn surfing and ocean safety fundamentals from our lifeguards, with plenty of time also devoted to fun on the beach. Reserve a spot now and check out the schedule for summer camps too.  
Funky Fridays Funding   
Thanks to all who came out for last summer's Funky Fridays benefit concerts at the historic Hood House. You helped raised $50,000 for the Sonoma County Regional Parks Foundation, which recently awarded funding for projects that will help us protect and interpret the mansion and Hood Mountain. This year's Funky Fridays concerts kick off May 26th.
