Get to Know Your Committee Members:
Over the next few months we'll be introducing our new Zone 7 Committee Members! They are already working hard for the zone. Take a minute to get to know them, and stay tuned for more introductions!

Laura Connaway, of Little Rock, Arkansas, is a third generation horsewoman who has been riding all her life. She breeds, trains and owns show jumpers. She is currently showing three horses in Amateur Owner and Grand Prix classes and also rode their mothers. Her goal as a committee member is to bring thoughts and issues members have to meetings, and she would love to hear from members in the zone. Her other hobbies include running (she's run the Boston Marathon twice), and she loves fly fishing and being outside. If she could have dinner with any equestrian, she would choose Luciana Diniz because of her joy for riding.

Kalea Maxwell , of Bixby, Oklahoma, is a licensed judge who has been competing professionally for the past 12 years. She has been active on several USHJA committees. As a Zone 7 committee member she hopes to encourage growth in the zone while also making sure that we protect the integrity and foundation of the sport. Outside the sport she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and learning new languages. If she could have dinner with any equestrian she would choose Christopher Hector to pick his brain about sport horse bloodlines.

John McQueen , of Calhoun, Louisiana, has been involved in the sport since 1979 and has been everything from a trainer and rider, to farm owner and judge. He also owns and operates Queenie Productions and manages more than 20 horse shows across the the country, including Omaha International and this year's World Cup in Omaha. His goals as a committee member are to further educate members and help make sure their showing experience is even better than it is now. He would have dinner with Joey Darby if he could have dinner with any equestrian because he was one of the kindest, most knowledgeable people John ever met.

Jennifer Stout , of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, is a hunter and jumper trainer who also judges for small shows. She's been involved in the sport since 1975 when she got her first pony and started showing in the large pony hunter section. She went on to compete at the AHSA Medal Finals and North American Young Rider Championships. As a committee member, she wants to do anything she can to help Zone 7. Outside the sport she enjoys gardening and bowls on a league. If she could dine with one equestrian, she would pick George Morris to discuss how the sport has changed so dramatically over the years.

Stay tuned for more committee member introductions in next month's eNews. Click here for more information about the Zone 7 Committee.
