CONGRATULATIONS ALEXANDRIA NEAL!
Congratulations to Garces senior Alexandria Neal! On Thursday night, Alexandria graduated from the Bakersfield Police Department's Explorers Program and received her official badge! The BPD Explorer Program provides an opportunity for young men and women to experience first-hand how a police department functions and what it takes to get started in a challenging career in law enforcement. The program, geared around law enforcement, gives youth self-confidence, discipline, and a feeling of community involvement. The Explorers are trained in all aspects of law enforcement, including report writing, traffic stops, crime scene investigation, defensive tactics, firearm safety, arrest procedures, crimes in progress, etc. Explorers perform a variety of community services which is not only personally satisfying but valuable experience which is frequently asked for when applying for college. The Explorers work with the Community Relations Unit assisting with Neighborhood Watch programs, McGruff the Crime Dog, and larger events such as National Night Out, Safe Halloween and the Christmas Parade. They provide traffic control for the Valley Plaza through the Christmas season and through out the year for various marathons, triathlons and runs. One of their favorite annual events is the AT&T Pro Am Golf Tournament in Pebble Beach for which they have provided traffic control for many years. Congratulations Alexandria!  We are so proud of your accomplishment!

WINTER PLAY - MARCH 15TH & 16TH
The Garces Players will preform a Murder Mystery next month and it will be a great time for all in attendance! Anna Rinaldi, who plays Mortimer the Butler, created this poster for the Garces Player's upcoming show.  She also wants you to know; "Theatre is a fun and engaging environment where I can feel comfortable being ridiculous and work on building my confidence. This show is an action-packed adventure, full of hilarity and intrigue with a variety of quirky characters that I can't wait to see realized.  Theatre gives me a sense of community and security; I consider every member a friend and the team atmosphere is encouraging." Please plan to see her and her classmates in action!
