Our Legislative Agenda:  an Update
The Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety bill, H.3909 now called H.3615, was introduced 2 weeks ago in the House by Representative Herbksersman of HHI.  We've since worked with Senators on this bill further, and Wednesday this week we testified on its behalf in a House subcommittee.  Read our blogpost here, which delves into the fine details, about the intricacies of bike law, charges, penalties, and our ultimate goals in seeking both justice and improved behaviors in South Carolina drivers.

Safety Report released
The PCC analyzed bicycle and pedestrian crashes in our state from 2009-2015 and found some startling trends, specifically comparing 10 regions of our state. Smart Growth America also analyzed similar data, though focusing on pedestrians only, and found similar trends across the country.  Many factors contribute to the findings, primarily infrastructure yet also including education and enforcement.  Check out our blogpost on that here, and for even more details see our Data webpage here.  We continue to research this topic through a host of interns and practicum students, so read this and stay tuned for more.
