2014 Frog's Leap Cabermet

The 2014 Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon is classic in every way: intense aromas of dark fruits, blackberry and cassis with lovely overtones of mocha and coffee bean. The flavors are subtle and nuanced while precisely balanced and deep. It is a wine for the cellar, of course, but will not disappoint in the shorter term paired with a nice rack of lamb or perhaps a Chateaubriand.
Wilfred Wong of Wine.com - "One of my biggest gripes in the business is how everyone oohs and aahs at the colors of wine and when a red wine is dark the crowd just goes crazy and make comments like, "This must be a great wine because it is so dark!" This conclusion that color indicates quality is so far from the truth-many wineries even add a secret ingredient called mega purple to darken their red wines; this addition has no aroma or flavor value. The 2014 Frog's Leap Cabernet Sauvignon shows a medium ruby color and exhibits beautiful aromas and flavors of wild strawberries, dried brown stalks, pleasant dust and rich earth. 2014 Mount Veeder Cabernet

Mount Veeder vines speak a language all of their own. Becoming fluent in that language, fully understanding all of its subtleties and nuances is the trick to making great wine from mountain vineyards. Over the years, Mount Veeder has come to know the contours, dips, and ridges of the mountain-and the sequence of ripening that is the key to it all. A Mount Veeder harvest is a Zen-like art of moving across a three-dimensional chess board. Take the uphill side of the vine only, or the downhill side, or just the north, south, east, or west section. They pick only what's ready and at peak flavor and ripeness. It's a complex endeavor and needs to be carved with precision, matching areas of the block that are at the same level of ripeness, and leaving other areas to mature another week or more.
Deep ruby with intense dark fruit aroma of black currant, followed by wet earth, mushroom, and caramelized sugar. Hints of dried herb and the classic California bay that is a signature of Mt. Veeder round out the nose. Earthy flavors that evoke the mountain, along with dark chocolate, black olive, and sweet bay leaf. The palate is long and rich with classic cassis flavors that linger. The soaring structure and acidity ensure its age-ability for years to come.
