Creative Hiring
February 28, 2017

Lowe's ( symbol LOW) recently hired disabled veteran, Clay Luthy, with his service dog, Charlotte. Luthy was having difficulty finding a job, but Lowe's gave him an interview. Jay Fellers, the human resource manager, said, "we knew he was going to make a great employee. We just got the benefit of getting Charlotte right along with him."

In her Facebook post of December 4, 2016, which went viral, Judy Rose wrote, "I love Abilene Lowes, way to go! This is a disabled vet who struggled to get a job because he needs his service dog! Lowes hired them BOTH!!". Her post, with the photo at right, has 199,000 shares and 13,000 comments.

The Fox News affiliate in Abilene,Texas produced this nice two-minute segment about Lowe's, Luthy and Charlotte.

Post Script: Judy Rose was kind to enthusiastically give permission for content from her Facebook post to be used for this article. She also added, "They are a great company and I applaud all they do for our military."
