CALL TO POLITICAL ACTION!

Congress is in recess for the first time since Donald Trump was elected president, and your representatives and senators are back in their home districts, collecting feedback, attending meetings and waiting to hear from us. Now is the time to call your representative or visit their district office. Tell them to support the NEA, NIH and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting!

After being confirmed by the Senate on Feb. 16, Donald Trump's nominee for budget director, Mick Mulvaney, has not wasted any time identifying programs, initiatives, organizations and agencies that he plans on cutting from the United States federal budget. The proposed cuts are to programs that cost under $500 million, a drop in the bucket for a country with a budget in the range of $4 trillion, but that does not make them any less important to American communities and values, to say nothing of their symbolic importance. Here in New York, we know that Senator Gillibrand has already signed onto a letter to President Trump to support the NEA.

Join Local 802 and ask your members of Congress to defend the national arts organization that has supported our industry since 1965!
