FEBRUARY HIGHLIGHTS
Heart Health Month

February is American Heart Month, and the Wisconsin Women's Health
Foundation has been busy doing its part to increase awareness of heart disease in women. Check out our blog  to see what we've been up to!

We also recently recorded an
episode for our podcast, The MotherPod, featuring Dr. Heather Johnson from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Learn how high blood pressure is affecting young adults, and how tools like her MyHeart program can make a difference.

(WWHF's Kayla Thomas interviewing Dr. Johnson)

Don't forget, we also have the Badger Heart texting service available for support with controlling heart disease risk factors. Take action towards a healthier heart!
Text Badger Heart to 97779.
Salud del Corazón en Español
(Heart Health in Spanish)

In February, two of our GrapeVine nurses, Rosa Gomez and Heidi Anderson, partnered with Casa Guadalupe in West Bend to present our Heart Health session in Spanish. They offered healthy snacks, free blood pressure screenings, and valuable information to a population, who has a higher risk of heart disease.

We love being able to reach out to more  women and families across the state. Plans for 2017 include the translation of more GrapeVine sessions to continue outreach to the Spanish-speaking population!

My Baby & Me Spanish Texting Pilot

My Baby & Me launched a pilot for text message services in Spanish.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the texts offer support with:

     - Avoiding alcohol

     - Managing stress

     - Setting goals

Pilot participants will receive weekly messages for up to 20 weeks with tips, information, and encouragement to work towards an alcohol-free pregnancy.
First Breath- Looking Forward

First Breath is in the process of piloting a streamlined version of its program at individual First Breath sites. The goal is to increase program reach and improve services by including more phone and text messaging counseling and strategies to quit, while decreasing the burden of data collection for First Breath Providers.

Pilot program funding provided by a Community Grant from the March of Dimes and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation.
