Principal's Notes
Dear parents and families,

Thank you to all our students, parents, faculty, and volunteers who made our Science Fair such a success. The experiments resulted in some amazing findings (which popcorn pops best) which are certainly going to help humanity. I and Fr. Drummond were amazed at the presentations and work the students accomplished. Ms. Pugh and Ms. Cortright also deserve a congratulations for all their hard work with the students and a successful Science Fair.

Welcome to Mrs. Denise Bailey, our new Honors Math substitute. Mrs. Bailey is a long-time math teacher who most recently worked at Paul VI. Her expertise is a true blessing for our students.

Yearbook order forms are due by the end of the month. Please be sure to sent them in to ensure you don't miss out on the memories!

I will be buying the 8th graders pizza for lunch on Tuesday, February 28th for their victory during the pep rally for Catholic Schools Week. There will be cheese and pepperoni options as well as sodas and waters.

International Night will be on Monday, February 27th. Mrs. Acevado has been planning a wonderful event and I hope to see everyone there to celebrate heritage and cultures from around the world!

Claire's Gourmet order forms are due by the 27th.

Registration forms went home last week for the 2017-2018 school year. Please send in your forms and registration checks to the front office.

Due to staff illnesses and limited time for the curriculum our 8th graders will no longer be attending Finance Park this year.

The last chance for help filling out FACTS information will be on March 2 from 6:00-7:00 PM in the school cafeteria.

God bless,

Daniel Cinalli
Principal

Greetings from Preschool!

We enjoyed our art class, reading with our buddies, and a special stuffed animal. Remember to send your child with a jacket to school. We are happy to see thee warm temperatures but it is still winter for a couple more weeks.

Thanks,

Clinic Corner

To maintain a healthy heart it is important to have a healthy level of cholesterol in your body.  Cholesterol is a type of fat or lipoprotein that is carried throughout the body.  There are two types of lipoproteins, low-density and high-density lipoproteins.  Low-density lipoproteins can lead to a buildup of cholesterol in the arteries, so it is good to have a low number value.  High-density lipoproteins help remove cholesterol from your body so in general a higher number is better.  Consult with your primary care physician if you wish to get your cholesterol checked or if you have questions about your cholesterol value.

The following are several things you could do to help keep your cholesterol level within a healthy range:

* If you smoke, quit

* Lose weight, if needed

* Exercise at least 3-5 days a week

* Eat a low-fat, low-cholesterol diet with plenty of fresh veggies, whole grains, and fruit

* Increase monounsaturated fats in your diet, such as canola oil, avocado oil, or olive oil

* If your physician prescribes a cholesterol lowering medication, make sure you take it as directed
