Capping Three Decades of Successfully Leading CWEE, CEO Laurie Harvey to Retire
Longtime President and CEO Laurie Harvey has announced her intention to retire from CWEE next year in March 2018.

"After 35 years of undeniable growth and success, CWEE continues to build on its rich history, model program and expert staff, and now sits poised to transition an even greater number of low-income families into self-sufficiency," says Laurie.  "It has been my great honor and distinct privilege to lead CWEE in serving the Denver Metro area's under-resourced families.  I will hold the inspiring stories of the thousands of moms and their kids I have met along my journey in my heart forever."

Laurie has been with CWEE for 34 years, serving as the Executive Director since 1988 and named President/CEO in 2015. During her tenure, she has overseen tremendous growth of the organization that provides career education and employment to help individuals and families, primarily single mothers, to move from public assistance and enter the workforce.

"During Laurie's leadership, CWEE has grown to be the largest organization of its kind in Colorado having served more than 13,500 people to date," explains Board Chair, Don MacKenzie. "We are all incredibly grateful for her dedication, friendship and guidance over the years."

CWEE's Board of Directors looks forward to engaging a search firm in leading a thoughtful and thorough search for CWEE's new leader over the next year.  MacKenzie said: "It is incredible timing for Laurie's retirement to coincide with 2017, our 35th Anniversary year. Laurie's legacy of leadership at CWEE is indeed something to celebrate; her dedication and focused service to the public interest over such a sustained period is truly exemplary. Laurie has built an organization that performs at the top of its craft, which has given so much to the Denver Metro area by teaching and training those that need it most to change their families' lives."

Wheels to Work

CWEE is thrilled to partner with Denver Rescue Mission's Vehicle Donation Program to bring cars to deserving CWEE participants. CWEE's Wheels to Work program bolsters participant access to transportation; a well-known barrier to finding and maintaining employment. CWEE participants apply for a vehicle by completing an application then writing an essay about what a car would mean to them and how they would plan on maintaining it.

Beginning in 2017, up to two eligible CWEE participants may receive vehicles each month through the CWEE's Wheels to Work program.
