Message from our President
David Gustin

Well, the year is off to a rousing start. On January 26th
the Melville Chamber of Commerce held its annual "Welcome to the New Year Celebration" featuring our businesses of the year awards, at Colonial Springs Golf Club.

Before mentioning the individual awards that were presented, I want to give special thanks to a few people who made the evening the success it was. First is Jackie Fox and the entire staff of Colonial Springs, who graciously offered the guests hors d'oeuvres and a sumptuous buffet prior to the awards presentation. Also, Mike Azzato from Selective Eye Photography, who as our official photographer took a generous number of photographs which can be seen on our official website: www.melvillechamber.org or see link below.

The two sponsors for the evening's festivities were: Lorraine Gregory Communications, an outcome driven communications agency based in Farmingdale, and Care Connect Insurance Company, which is committed to making it easier for members to get and stay healthy.

Our guest speaker for the evening was The Honorable DuWayne Gregory, Suffolk County Legislator, who represents the 15th Legislative District . He discussed the challenges facing legislators as they try to make and enforce laws which will help improve people's lives while at the same time helping businesses generate commerce in the surrounding area.

The Melville Chamber of Commerce presented the following awards:

  1. Business Advocate of the Year-Representative DuWayne Gregory
  2. Non-Profit of the Year-Patrice Radowitz and Robert S. Budd- of Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Inc.
  3. Business of the Year-Media-John McHugh of Brainstorm Studio
  4. Business of the Year-Community-Rachelle Neuwirth of CareConnect Insurance Co.
  5. Young Professional of the Year-Tywana Williams - Small Business Solutions
  6. Women Of Melville Empowerment Network-Toni Siemann of Adecco Employment and Staffing
  7. Michael Weisbrod Memorial Award-Stew Leonard Jr. Accepting the award was Stew's daughter Blake Leonard and fellow team members Nat Zappia, Lizbeth Arbieto, Jessica Shinnick and Jeff Doyle
  8. Volunteer of the Year Award-Annette Krauss
  9. Ambassador of the Year-Jordan Kaplan from Forest Hills Financial Group
  10. Business of the Year-Transportation-Marty Rubin of Mark of Elegance limousine and transportation company

Each of the award recipients was presented with a Certificate of Merit by Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci and a Proclamation by Legislator DuWayne Gregory.

Of course, no Melville Chamber event comes to fruition without the tireless efforts of our Executive Director, Ted Macaluso. Thanks to the Chamber Board and Chairman Mark Catapano for their work at our monthly Board meetings and help setting the policies for our Chamber.

And finally, my special thanks to all the members who make the Melville Chamber what it is. Without you, there is no Chamber!

So, as we celebrate the first of many flagship events coming up this year, just a reminder for everyone that we have many events planned in 2017, both breakfast and after-hours, and I look forward to seeing you there!

Warm regards, your President, David M. Gustin
