$2000 CHAMBER SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE TO ONE QUALIFIED HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR
Thanks to generous funding from Fox Charlevoix & Fox Charlevoix Ford, Freshwater Charch and Round Lake Group, LLC, the Charlevoix Area Chamber of Commerce is able to award one lucky High School Senior a Scholarship in the amount of $2000.
Applicant must be either an employee of a business which is a member of the Charlevoix Area Chamber of Commerce or the child of an employee of a Chamber business.

LOCAL RESTAURANTS PAIR WITH CHARLEVOIX LEADERSHIP TO HOST "WIPE YOUR FEET!" FUNDRAISERS
Leadership Charlevoix County (LCC) class is seeking financial support for their community service project, "Wipe Your Feet!". The project takes aim at invasive species and the threat they pose to native plants and ecosystems. The class has partnered with local restaurants to host the following fundraising events where community members can learn more about the issue and contribute to the project:
*Thursday, March 2, 7-9pm at the Boyne City Tap Room and Pine Lake Lodge: trivia night offering discounted pizzas and $1 off every 16oz beer goes to the project.
*Thursday, March 9, 7-9pm at the Lake Charlevoix Brewing Company: offering a $10 all you can eat buffet with a percentage of the sales going directly to the project. More

PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP OFFERED FOR GRADUATING HOME SCHOOL SENIOR
North Central Michigan College provides a Presidential Scholarship to one graduating senior from a home school within our service area. Presidential Scholarships are offered for full tuition (up to 20 contact hours per semester) and mandatory fees for four consecutive semesters (fall and winter only). Field study fees are not included. Scholarship recipients must register for the fall semester immediately following their spring high school graduation. This is a competitive scholarship.
To be considered, a student shall: * Complete an online Application for Admission to North Central by April 1 of their graduation year. * Have a minimum 3.5 overall high school grade point average (include a high school transcript through the nominee's seventh semester) More ncmich.edu

TRAINEE PROGRAM AT BAKER COLLEGE HELPS MANUFACTURERS "GROW THEIR OWN EMPLOYEES;" INFO MEETING MARCH 1
State funds available for employers who sponsor students.
Northern Michigan manufacturers in need of additional high tech talent are invited to a March 1 informational meeting about an innovative training program offered by Baker College and administered by the State of Michigan Talent Investment Agency (TIA), according to Mark Lagerwey, director of extension programs and services for Baker College of Cadillac.
"Manufacturers can essentially "grow their own" employees through this program," he said. "After a three-year school-work rotation by the student, the sponsoring manufacturer gains a well-trained and known employee with the state providing grants to defray the costs." More baker.edu

CAMP DAGGETT'S BEARCUT OUTFITTERS TORCHLIGHT SNOWSHOE EVENT CANCELLED FOR SATURDAY FEBRUARY 25
Lack of snow has cancelled the Bearcub Outfitters Torchlight Snowshoe outing at Camp Daggett on Saturday, February 25. This is the first time in 16 years and 31 consecutive events, that Camp Daggett has had to cancel an outing.

INNER CIRCLE GALLERY TALK AT CIRCLE OF ARTS The Charlevoix Circle of Arts welcomes Kalamazoo artist Mary Brodbeck for an Inner Circle Gallery Talk on Monday, February 27 beginning at 10am. In this talk, Mary will discuss the art of Mokuhanga: a Japanese woodblock printmaking process. Mary was a visiting scholar at the Japan Center for Michigan Universities in Hikone, Japan. After which, she created a documentary film on this experience called "Becoming Made"
The Circle of Arts is pleased to be able to offer not only the Inner Circle talk, but also a learning experience with Mary in her upcoming workshop: The Basics of Mokuhanga. There are limited spaces left, the workship is being offered on Saturday and Sunday, February 25 & 26 from 9am-4pm.

"INTO THE WOODS" DEBUTS AT CHARLEVOIX MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL
"Into The Woods", a Stephen Sondheim Broadway musical will be brought to life by the Charlevoix Middle/High School Performing Arts on Friday, March 3, Saturday, March 4, Saturday, March 11 at 6:30pm and Sunday March 12 at 2:00pm
"Into The Woods" is a musical fantasy intertwining the plots of several fairy tale characters. A Wicked Witch tasks a childless baker and his wife with procuring several magical items from classic fairy tales in order to reverse the curse put on their family tree
Tickets are $5/Students, $8/Adults. There is a $20 Family Matinee price, good only for the Sunday, March 12 show. All performances are in the Charlevoix Middle/High School Auditorium.
