02/23/2017 - Men's Fellowship Breakfast with Robin Ryan
Our next Iron Men Fellowship Breakfast will be Thursday, February 23, at 6:30 AM in the Family Life Center. We welcome Dr. Robin Ryan, Superintendent of Grapevine-Colleyville ISD. Dr. Ryan will share how GCISD is "redefining educating." Three Iron Men Bible Studies meet weekly on Thursday mornings, then all come together on the last Thursday of the month in the Family Life Center to cook breakfast, fellowship and hear a special speaker. 02/25/2017 - Services for Rod Hendrickson
A memorial service for Rod Hendrickson will be held on Saturday, February 25, at 11 AM at the Pavilion at the Grapevine Botanical Gardens (please note this is a revised time).  Many of you know Rod from when he worked on our facilities staff. Rod and his son Harley have lived in our rental house on Ball Street for a number of years.  Should weather dictate, the service will be moved inside to the Sanctuary.

Discover the Church
If you are interested in church membership or learning more about the church, please consider joining Rev. Grant Palma at the Discover the Church class this Sunday, February 26, at 9:15 AM in Room 2005 of the Family Life Center (library). This is a one-time, one-hour class that is offered monthly for all who desire to know more about fellowship, mission and service opportunities in our church, and for all who are interested in or have questions about church membership. You will have the opportunity to meet other new members and guests as well as some of our church staff. You also have an opportunity to join the church during this class. Our Respecting Choices team invites you into a conversation this Sunday, February 26, from 2-4 PM in Leach Hall for a viewing and discussion of the PBS Frontline film, Being Mortal. Consider that dying is not just for the elderly as accidents and medical issues cause many younger people to face tough decisions. The best gift anyone can give their loved ones is to have a plan that has been shared together to allow an easier path for decisions that will need to be made to honor their wishes. This session will be moderated by Dr. Kendra Belfi. We hope to help all ages arrive at an action plan for their own advance care planning. This film will help connect the dots between the reality of the medical story and the issues, feelings and experiences we all bring to the table. Questions? 02/28/2017 - Wesleyan Heritage Class
Dr. Jesse Sowell of our church and Emeritus Professor of Religion from Texas Wesleyan University is offering a three-session study of Wesleyan Heritage and History for all those who are interested in learning more about our Wesleyan roots. The class will be offered at two times - Tuesdays from 7 to 8:30 PM and Wednesdays from 12:30 to 2 PM, starting February 28 and March 1 in Room 2008. This class will help those who are going on the Wesleyan Heritage Tour have background information to make the trip more meaningful. 03/01/2017 - UMW Chicken Spaghetti Supper
The United Methodist Women will host their annual Chicken Spaghetti Supper on Ash Wednesday, March 1, from 5:30 to 6:45 PM in the Family Life Center.  Come enjoy their famous spaghetti with salad, bread and dessert,  before attending the Ash Wednesday service at 7 PM. Kids Menu will be hot dogs and chips. The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children. Proceeds from the dinner will go to missions. Please RSVP online or in Sunday's Check-In and pay at the door. New this year, we will take pre-orders for those of you who would like to take food home. Pre-orders will be ready for you to take home when you arrive on March 1. If you would like to pre-order please do so through the online registration at least 1 week prior. Ash Wednesday is on March 1. This marks the beginning of the season of Lent. The imposition of ashes is a traditional way of marking the beginning of Lent and reminds us that we are all in need of God's forgiveness. Christians use this day to begin this season of spiritual self-examination. We invite you to observe Ash Wednesday with us in worship at 7 PM in the Sanctuary. Tweens, join us on Friday, March 3, for FUN at Coyote Drive-in!  We will depart from the church at 5:30 PM and arrive back at the church at about 10:30 PM. The cost is $15 per person for movie, drink and hot dog. Register before February 24 so we have adequate transportation. Registration is open for this year's CTCYM (Central Texas Conference Youth Mission) High School Mission Trip, which will be June 18-24 in Oklahoma. This year's theme is CHOOSE 2B. This trip is for incoming high school freshmen through this year's graduating seniors. The cost is $235 until March 10 and increases to $260 after that. So sign up early and SAVE! The deadline to sign up for the North Texas Horse Country Tour sponsored by Grayful Spirits (Senior Adult Ministry) is coming up March 10. The tour will be Thursday, March 30 from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Travel aboard a motor coach through horse country with a knowledgeable guide narrating facts about the area. Visit two premier horse ranches to learn about the equine industry. Opportunities to Serve and Give...
GRACE Needs Storage Space
The space that GRACE has been using to store seasonal items and supplies will no longer be available to them (used for Christmas Cottage toys, Feed our Kids supplies, Transitional Housing housewares & furniture and Resale seasonal merchandise). They are in need of 3,000 square feet of storage space (multiple sites or all one site, preferably within Grapevine). If you have storage space that you would be willing to donate for use by GRACE, please contact Shonda Schaefer at 817-305-4650. Also note that when it's time for the move, we'll let you know about needs for volunteers.

Food for the GRACE Food Pantry
Don't forget to grab some extra items when you do your grocery shopping! GRACE is currently completely out of toilet paper and size 6 diapers. They are also low on condiments, salt and pepper, ramen noodles, juice, pasta sauce, dry pastas, canned meat, and canned fruit. Visit the GRACE website for a full list of needs. If you would like to donate any of these items, please bring your donations to the God Can bins outside the church office or in the Sanctuary Foyer/Atrium.

Ken Diehm Service Scholarship
The Thrift Shop is once again offering a $2,000 scholarship to High School Seniors who are members of our church graduating this spring.  Applications are due March 20, 2017 and are available online at  www.fumcgyouth.org/scholarship .  Applications may be submitted  online  or turned into the church office.  If you have any questions, please contact Sharon Turner ( [email protected] ).

Pastor's Bible Study
We will wrap up our study of  the book of 1 Thessalonians  with Rev. Jenn Pick on Monday, February 27, at 6 PM in Leach Hall. 

In March, Rev. Grant Palma will begin a study of scripture passages that address evil and suffering in the world. The world is full evil and suffering, bad things happen to good people, and our loved ones are taken from us too soon. In the midst of what we see in the news and experience in our own lives, we ask, "Where is God in this? Why would a loving God allow this to happen?" Join Rev. Grant Palma to explore the passages that address these questions and discuss how Christians have faced these challenges for centuries.

Throughout the Bible, words depict a truth about life that we know all too well. We, as Christians, will face trials. We will spend time soaring on a mountain top, and we will find ourselves struggling in the valley. These are the emotional seasons of life on this temporal earth. My family is slowly and cautiously emerging from a difficult season. Over a five week period of time, Landon broke his collar bone, Taylor underwent two surgeries, we had 3 major water catastrophes at the lake (that didn't involve the water in the lake!), and Landon had a severe viral infection with extremely high fever. It was a season of life that left me breathless and exhausted. However, it was a strengthening season and a time of great spiritual reflection as well. Keep reading...

We are so thankful for our congregation's generosity in donating to the Words of Peace ministry following our ministry moment a few months ago. Because of your generosity, we have now placed an additional order of over 300 Jesus Calling books! This is very exciting as we continue to provide books to many locations on a continual basis.
