When Buying, Selling and Renovating... it's an Animal House
When making decisions about buying, selling, or renovating their homes, most Americans take their pets' needs into account, according to a new report from the National Association of Realtors®. The 2017 Animal House: Remodeling Impact report found that a strong majority of respondents said animal-related considerations play a role in homeownership decisions.
  • 81% say that animal-related considerations play a role in deciding their next living situation
  • 52% undertook home renovations to accommodate their pet
  • 89% would not give up their animal because of housing restrictions or limitations

2017 Housing Forecast
Realtor.com® Chief Economist, Jonathan Smoke, presented "What to Expect in the Year Ahead" at a PMAR Young Professionals Network luncheon on February 9th.

The Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro housing market ranks 10th out of the 100 top US metros based on price and sales gains.

Five Key Housing Trends for 2017:
  1. Millenials and Baby Boomers will dominate the market
  2. Midwestern cities will continue to be a hotbed for Millenials
  3. Slowing price appreciation
  4. Fewer homes on the market and fast moving markets
  5. Western cities will continue to lead the nation in prices and sales.

Realtor® Opportunity - Clackamas County Planning Commission Vacancies

Clackamas County is looking for people interested in serving on its Planning Commission. There are three vacancies that need to be filled in Spring 2017.
 
The nine-member Planning Commission advises the Board of County Commissioners on land use applications and issues in accordance with the requirements of state law, the County Comprehensive Plan, Zoning & Development Ordinance, and County Code.

M embers do not need to have expertise in land use, but should be interested in hearing public testimony, working with a group to reach consensus and making recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners.
