National Lutheran Schools Week
Lutheran Schools week was a marvelous success! Thank you to all who participated. Congratulations to our costume contest winners, especially Ms. Heck, Mrs. Hoza and Ms. Niesche for going above and beyond to look awesome every day! Thank you to Mrs. Shoaf for bringing our awesome rock presenter, Mr. Shoaf, to help us learn the connections between rocks and Jesus! What a blessing it is to be at a Lutheran School, where we stand Upon the Rock!

Blessings in Christ,
Molly Poppe
Where Will Your Reading Take You?
The National Lutheran Schools AR (Accelerated Reading) Challenge has begun!  Shepherd of the Hills (Grades 1-8) is once again participating in this Challenge with about 70 other Lutheran Schools.  Students are reading books.  Once they have read a book, they take AR quizzes on the book.  We plan on doing well in this friendly competition which is from January 30 to March 10.

Shepherd also has our own AR competition with prizes for classrooms earning the highest points and for having the highest point total per student.  Last year the competition was close as classrooms vied to be the leader from week to week.  Look at the "Where Will Your Reading Take You?" wall in the library for weekly updates!

Questions? Please contact Mrs. Shoaf.
TerraRecycle Program Pays Cash
Our school is participating in a reward program called TerraCycle. It is a recycling program that pays cash to our school! How amazing is that? BUT we need your help!

We are involved in the Go-Go Squeeze program. Any and all "squeeze" packs are acceptable. They do not have to be rinsed out and, although it is preferred to have the lids on to prevent hungry bugs, it is not required.

We have several ways you can bring squeeze packs in:
  • directly to your child's teacher.
  • the bucket in the lunchroom (please remind your child about this).
  • the bucket at the Redemption Center by the front office.

The best part is that during the month of February, TerraCycle is doubling the amount of points we receive for each shipment so we can get more cash...faster!

Please bring in every squeeze pack you can, each one really does help! Spread the word, tell your friends and neighbors! Not only are we helping the environment and "going green", we are helping Shepherd too!

Questions, comments, concerns? Please contact Chelsea.
