Congratulations to Lower School and Early Childhood students: Meira Meckley, Ryan Gonik, Naomi Micha, Anaelle Levenstein, Miryam Seifert, Yarin Jarufi, Ella Bublil, Shmuly Rosenzweig, Eli Nevah, Daniel Zonana, Lielle Stern, Elana Yanowitz, Noam Krispil, and Leenoy Jarufi who received an Award of Excellence ribbon from the Houston Rodeo Art Competition. Students were tasked with depicting farm life the way they saw it.

8th Grade Washington Trip
A big highlight of the 8th grade trip to Washington, D.C. last week was when students were able to meet Congressman Culberson, and thank him for the help he provided to recover from the flood.

Morah Rivkie's 3rd grade students learned the 39
melachot of Shabbat with hands on activities.
"Zoreah" - Planting, had the students planting mini plants. The students are excited to watch the plants grow as they take care and water them!

Rabbi Carmel held a sushi lunch for participating ERJCC Teen Art Scene students. The show's theme this year was "Art Matters" and Beren students won 6 out of 12 of the awards given at the show reception. Winning students including Best in Mixed Media, Best in Black and White Photography, and Best in Drawing are Simcha Korn, Bracha Teigman, Sigal Melnik, Tchelet Carmel, Molly Goldstein, and Ariella Ruben.

After learning about "Similar Triangles" and their application in real life, Mrs. Rosenzweig's students use Indirect Measurement to find the height of trees and the gymnasium. The students loved this outdoor applied math lesson!

Students in Morah Aviva's EC3 class were excited to build igloos with mini marshmallows as part of their Winter and Penguin unit.They followed the igloo pattern on a cut out board and glued the marshmallows according to the pattern.

EC15 student Odele Mizrahi enjoyed working with Art Director Colleen Bryant on her tree project as part of the Tu B'Shevat unit. The adorable final product, has a picture of the students in the tree trunk!

Middle School Girls
The MS girls basketball team will wrap up their season by playing Victoria Trinity at the Toyota Center on February 2nd. The game will be played at approximately 12:45 p.m.
Middle School Varsity Boys
The MS boys basketball team will play Victoria Trinity at the Toyota Center on February 2nd. The game will be played at approximately 1:30 p.m.
HS Girls
The HS Girls are now 3-3 in TAPPS on the year after a tough defeat against Baytown Christian. The girls currently are in 3rd place in the district. The Lady Stars will clinch a playoff spot with a win at Briarwood on Thursday, February 2nd. Next Thursday, they will wrap up their regular season with Senior Night against Brazosport Christian.
HS Boys
The HS Boys played well, but lost a tough district game against the 5th ranked team in the state. The Stars are 4-2 in TAPPS play. They will be on the court again on February 2nd when they travel to Briarwood. Next Thursday, the boys will close the district season when they have Senior Night against Brazosport Christian.
