Erev Scout/Choir Shabbat Shira
Friday, February 10 at 7:00 PM
Please join us for special Shabbat services on Friday, February 10 at 7:00 PM, as members of our Temple choir join the Rabbi and Cantor to welcome Shabbat Shira--Shabbat in Song. It is the special Shabbat during which we read the Torah portion containing the Song of the Sea and the Mi Chamocha prayer, sung as the Israelites crossed the parted sea on their journey to freedom. Cantor Amanda and the choir will present "Music of the Book of Exodus," a mini-concert exploring various works that use text from the book of Exodus. You won't want to miss this awesome, musical Shabbat!

Temple Emanu-El's connection with the Scouting movement remains strong, and once a year, usually in February, scouts from the Congregation and around the South Bay are invited to attend a Shabbat service, coming in uniform.

This unique Shabbat service will be followed by a special Tu B'Shevat Oneg

New Junior Choir!
Beginning Sunday, February 12
If your child is in grades Kindergarten through 7th and loves to sing, consider signing him/her up for Temple Emanu-El's newest musical group:  the MazelTones! The MazelTones will be getting together 2 Sundays per month, after Religious School to hang out, eat lunch, and learn some great Jewish music. Under the direction of Cantor Amanda, the MazelTones will lead 2-3 musical pieces during each Family Shabbat service, once a month. Our first 2 rehearsals will be Sunday, February 12 and 26 from 12:30-1:30 PM. We will have lunch in the Temple House followed by a rehearsal in the Sanctuary. Our first Family Shabbat service will be March 3. If your child is unsure, please encourage him/her to give the first rehearsal a try to see if s/he would like to continue to participate. Refugees Need Your Help!
Through February 25
Jewish Family Services Silicon Valley serves 200 vulnerable refuges each year and distributes food to benefit these hard working families in our community who are facing food insecurity.  This year, JFS' funding for emergency food was greatly reduced due to the FEMA Emergency Food and Shelter Board reducing its allocation to Santa Clara County. Please help refugee families by donating non-perishable food items at the bin at Temple Emanu-El.  Thank you for your support! Questions? Contact Leo Michels: leoamichels@yahoo.com
