Lovejoy High School

A Message from the Principal

Lovejoy HS News 02 13 17

Parents and Guardians,

As part of our focus to support students in making healthy lifestyle choices, this Friday, February 17th, AIM For Success will be at LHS for student presentations about the potential dangers of engaging in sexual activity outside of marriage. The program lasts approximately 45 minutes, and students will be separated so that girls will attend one session while boys attend a different one. The message is straight forward to students, and you can click here to access the outline of the program. There is a parent preview opportunity this Wednesday, February 15th at 6 pm in the LHS Lecture Hall. I invite you to attend and learn more about Friday's presentations.

I also wanted to remind you that next Monday, February 20th, is a student and staff holiday. I hope you and your student have a great week and an enjoyable holiday weekend. Please take a moment and review the dates and information below for upcoming events at LHS.

Sincerely ,

Chris Mayfield
Principal
Lovejoy High School

AIM for Success
The Lovejoy High School PTSA would like to invite parents to preview the XTREME program on February 15th from 6 - 7 pm in the LHS Lecture Hall. XTREME is a direct, "straight-talk" program for high school students only. This program will be presented by AIM for Success to all students on Friday, February 17th. The program is packed with medically accurate information and is designed to open the eyes of each student regarding the serious problems associated with teen pregnancies and the current escalating STD epidemic. The program clearly demonstrates that saving sex for marriage provides FREEDOM from pregnancies, STDs and regrets, while giving FREEDOM to fulfill dreams and goals!

Java and Jazz Concert

Join us for an evening of great music starting at 7 pm on Friday, February 17th. We will have coffee and dessert items for you to enjoy while you relax and listen. Don't get too comfortable though, as we will have an open dance floor for students and parents alike. We will play a combination of some classic swing-era classics and slow ballads. We want a crowded dance floor...don't be shy!

The concert will start at 7:00 pm with a set of music played by the high school jazz band, a short break, and then the vocalists will join us for the rest of the evening. We will end with everyone's favorite swing tune, "In the Mood."

This is a free event! Join us!!

Not sure what Google Classroom is, how to access it, or what your student needs to do to turn in work using this tool? Come to our parent tech session next Wednesday and learn the ins and outs of Google Classroom! All questions are welcome, and we will offer practical how-to instruction to help you.
