Dear Constituent,

Governor Hogan Announces the
Integrity in Government Initiative

Yesterday, on the steps of Maryland's historic State House, Governor Larry Hogan announced his "Integrity in Government Initiative". This package of legislation aims at routing out corruption in and bringing transparency to state government. You can find out more by watching Governor Hogan's powerful announcement here: .

Highlights of the Initiative Include:

The Integrity in Government Initiative is a bold step forward by the Hogan administration to restore Marylanders' faith in state government and to bring accountability and fairness to Annapolis.

While running for office, Governor Hogan committed to restoring integrity to Annapolis, and he is committed to keeping his promise. Today's announcement further puts Governor Hogan's words into action.
  • Governor Hogan's proposal is a much-needed common sense approach that will be instrumental in cleaning up the corruption that plagues Annapolis - it will increase transparency and strengthen our ethics laws.
  •  Our state has not had comprehensive ethics reforms in 15 years, and the governor is shaking up the status quo and presenting long overdue bipartisan actions that are necessary to clean up this mess.
  •  This is not about politics, it is not about Republicans or Democrats, or one branch of government against the other--this is about doing what is right in Maryland.

Governor Hogan's Veto of HB 1106, Clean Energy Jobs-Renewable Energy Portfolio Standard Revisions

Many Constituents have been in contact with our office in regards to Governor Hogan's veto of SB921/HB1106. While the bill sounds great, and Governor Hogan does support clean energy and jobs, there are some details in the bill that he could not support.

To quote Governor Hogan: "HB 1106 would increase taxes for all Maryland ratepayers by $49 to $196 million per year. This increase would be piled on top of an increase that went into effect in 2014..."Under the current system, only 25% of the clean energy Maryland buys is actually produced in Maryland. The other 75% comes from other states. If we expand this program as the bill requires, even less of Maryland's clean energy will be generated in our state."

I support Govenror Hogan's position because my Marylanders cannot afford large increases in their electric bills.

Governor Hogan announced on January 3, 2017 an Environmental Agenda that proposes a robust legislative package to protect Maryland's Environment.  Included in his initiative are targeted investments and market-based solutions  to encourage "green" industries and invest in renewable energy innovations. It is hoped that the results of this legislation would benefit all Marylanders and preserve our natural resources.
