If you were to follow the footprints of TBDC in January, you would have traveled to New York, NY; London, England; Berlin, Germany; and Paris, France where the Company performed  Trisha Brown: In Plain Site or Set and Reset. You would have also ventured to Brussels, Belgium; Annandale-on-Hudson, NY; and Hartsville, SC to participate in the Company's education programs.

Yet even more remarkable than our international travels were the TBDC dancers and teaching artists, spanning several generations, who communicated Trisha's work and technique with clarity and intention. From stages under hot lights, to open-air squares beneath a bed of clouds, each performance is unique to the location, to the dancers, to the audience, which makes Trisha's work all the more fulfilling.

Just a few days ago, the Company performed at Brooklyn's Central Library as part of A Night of Philosophy & Ideas. From our first performance at 8:00pm to the last performance at 6:30am the next morning, the library was brimming with spectators all gathered to pursue their curiosities and welcome dialogue. At the same time, across the Atlantic Ocean, the Company performed Set and Reset in the Tanks at the Tate Modern, as part of the Robert Rauschenberg exhibition.

Up next, the Company appears on film at New York City's Dance on Camera Festival and Bamcinématek, in the U.S. premiere of Marie-Hélène Rebois' In the Steps of Trisha Brown. Speaking of premieres, later this month the Company travels to the United Arab Emirates for the first time, to perform at New York University Abu Dhabi. And in March, we are pleased to be presented by CAP UCLA at The Broad, The Getty, LACMA, and Hauser Wirth & Schimmel.

#SpeakingInDance: a new weekly visual exploration of dance.

From Ballet to Trisha Brown, by Joan Acocella
To dance Glacial Decoy, the Paris Opera Ballet dancers had to undo what their training told them to do.

The treasure trove of delicious archival footage of Trisha.  From creating the movement to performance, clips of Brown with her dancers are scattered throughout the film. You feel like your understanding of her work is increasing at the same pace as the POB dancers being put through their paces in rehearsal.

...featuring some magnificent women from the earlier days of the company, including Iréne Hultman and Vicky Shick.
